[done] Windows 7 Installation Resolution/Video Issue?
« on: September 20, 2015, 04:52:32 AM »
Sorry if this is posted on here. I can't seem to find it, regarding the issue I'm having. Its giving me a headache, and maybe I'm just illiterate when it comes to this stuff.

I originally posted this on the official Blizzard > Classic forums, and was redirected to this website. I got the War2Combat (which I love that I can actually play it now). But, my issue is this: I already own a physical copy of Warcraft 2BNet Edition, and patched to the latest version (2.24 it said).

Rather then re type it all, I'll Copy/paste what I posted there, and maybe some one here is more familiar with this than I am capable of seeing. The problem is giving me a headache.

It's just kind of a pet peeve of mine, to not play RTS's without their associating music/dialogue.

So, I've been trying to get Warcraft 2 BNet edition to work, but I cant seem to figure anything out.

DOSBox doesn't work. VM doesn't run or wont recognize the files on my computer.

When I try to load the game, I get working sound, working keybinds and audio. When it loads up, its some form of video, in a tiny resolution, that I can't change, either through Control Panel or through forcing it to run in any Compatibility Mode.

I've ran it in all Compatibility Mode options. I get the same video error in all of them. I've ran it with 256 colors on and off, 640x480 reso on and off. As well as running it with Disabled Visual Themes, desktop composition and scaling on high DPI Settings. I've ran it with Admin mode on at all times. Nothing seemed to fix this issue.

I've attached a image of the issue, its in the upper left screen(my computer kept forcing my secondary monitor for a screenshot, sorry for poor quality).

I am unsure if this is a video issue, resolution issue, or driver issue.

If anyone or any Blizzard Employee that happens to see this, anything will be appreciated, as I'm out of ideas. And yes, this is a real, physical copy of Warcraft II Battle.net Edition.

I just converted the screens I took of the issue(They were PCX Files, why the imgur is a cell pic). They came out clear as day, as if the game was running properly, with the main menu screen.

Again, I'm sorry if I completely missed the solved issue, if its on here. I don't know what to do or how to fix it.

What operating system you using? Have you updated graphics driver? If your using combat is there a color fixed installed?

Same results for dos box?
BNE?
RU?

I am using Windows 7 Professional. I have updated my drivers. For combat, the color fix is installed. Results for dosbox i got nothing, same with VM. I am running War2BNE patch 2.24.

The sound issue is with War2Combat, but the music/videos/etc are excluded for size reasons. The video issue is for running straight through  windows 7, with a complete  install(not a spawn CD). This is not a RU (Russian version).

What do I need, Teamviewer/skype ?

*Edit: Apparently, Nvidia had a driver update (assuming a hotfix, didn't appear last night). And now, I reinstalled War2 and its working properly now. No idea what that was all about.
