Guys help me out here
« on: August 09, 2017, 08:20:51 AM »
Hey all.

Been working hard on my site still.  I need people to sign up.

Web developers  would be great too if any of you know anything. :)

Please take a couple of minutes to register on the site.

https://www.ambitiousgamer.com/register

If you have a Twitch account use that to sign in it's the easiest method.

Social media profiles:

Twitch:  https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousgamerwebsite
Twitter:  https://twitter.com/AmbitiousGamers
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AmbitiousGamerWebsite

Likes / follows all that jazz.  I believe I'm already hosting War2Combat and a couple of the streamer folks here.

Also, emails from my domain are going to spam/bulk.  I have to figure that out still.  I don't know shit about setting up email from a web host.

If you can sign up I'd appreciate it.

Plus if this ever goes to shit we'll have a forum over there. lol.

Hope everybody is well...

Mike

well right now not very much.

you get a social profile page to post on walls and under the community dashboard. (community page in the menu)

however we're working on a stack database which will connect the accounts to the games library.

then that will allow you to submit media to any game in the database, add to your profiles and interact with other people doing the same.  such as leave reviews, vote reviews, add your youtube or twitch content to the game etc and it will all become visible.

accounts right now are kinda lame.  they just give you the ability to post or comment around the site.  really, you don't even need one cause you can use your twitch account to connect to it.  Oh and you can also get a store on there (like an individual marketplace)

I noticed Runescape on your list of games there, are you a current player?

Just had a quick look. First thing I noticed was if I click on the FORUM link I get a security alert for and invalid certificate.

This appears to be because the site certificate is for "www.ambitiousgamer.com" but the link is to "https://ambitiousgamer.com/?post_type=forum"

I believe if your certificate was for "ambitiousgamer.com" it would cover sub-domains like "www." etc.

For now if you change the link to "https://www.ambitiousgamer.com/?post_type=forum" it still works and makes the certificate valid for the domain.

The "VIDEO GAMES" link is the same.

I'd fix these up as they could scare people away.

Otherwise it's a good looking site. Should be nice with more use and content.

fix the time on your computer newb. no cert issues for me.

It's not a clock issue, it's a domain issue.

Perhaps your browser is automatically rechecking with the "www." sub-domain added however my current browser (Firefox 43.0.1) does not, and is quite correctly raising an exception for an invalid certificate.

This is occurring only on the links which don't include the "www." as this is the domain that the certificate was registered for.

Whether or not some browsers may have a built in kludge to work around this, any site developer would want to know if their site is attempting to use an invalid certificate as this can (a) scare off new users and (b) just looks unprofessional.

www.script-kiddie.com != script-kiddie.com
Just because real programmers dumb stuff down so script-kiddies can understand them doesn't change the facts.

If you had actually read my post and/or had the slightest clue what you were talking about you would have realised this.... newb.
