serious question
« on: January 07, 2018, 09:28:09 PM »
kyle has IP scanner and is using it to drop hack me from his games now

is this allowed? .. there's really no way to prove he's doing it so im assuming he will continue to be allowed to do it

unless maybe i get IP scanner as well and start logging stuff as well

I think drop hacking shouldnt be allowed...

ip scanning also is intrusive and shouldnt be allowed but is impossible to pick up on.  but imo ip addresses should be protected information

i like ip addresses to be protected information. altho some IT source I picked up on mentioned something about ip-addresses being like your street address - equally public and equally easy to obtain. MAC-address is 100% protected information and obtaining it is illegal in most cases (don't quote me on this tho).

Use a VPN!

When you are hosting a game your ip can be easily grabbed. Maybe he is ddosing you?

Yeah, you all send everyone in any game your IP address several times a second - can't play the game without doing it. Well I should say an IP address, not your IP address, but it has to be an IP address that will end up back at your computer or the game won't work.

not 100% sure if tracing someone's IP is illegal.. could be wrong about that. but i KNOW attacking it is.

You dont need an IP scanner.  You already have one.  Open a command prompt and type "netstat".  Bam,  there you go.  A list of all IPs that are connected to you and that you are connected to.  Good luck figuring out who is who though.  Just look for the war2 ports 6112 and you should be able to figure out which are players and over several games even place names to them.  Or if you already know the general physical area of someone,  you can figure out names just by geo locating IPs that you know are from war2.  There are very few people who use VPNs other than hackers,  so the location idea is probably going to be accurate 90% of the time.  But people like Dellam will use VPNs in just about every game.  And once you figure out how to tell if an IP is a VPN or not even the VPN users cant hide because only a few people use them and we all know who they are.
