In case anyone hasn't realized it yet its been pretty dead on the server lately.
So I have decided to host a $50 cash tourney last Saturday of every month until the end of 2015. With the hopes we can bring more players back to the War2 server.
The first tourney will be this Saturday August 29, whoever is interested can sign up here
challonge.com/war2gow
Or they can simply pm me.
Remember the whole point of this is to try to get people interested in playing warcraft 2 again, so I open to more ideas as to how to achieve this goal.

Great Tora! I'm a PBaller so GOW tournaments aren't my thing, but anything to help and get people back or new to this game is good. Good work man.
-
well done tora, ill try to participate. Just set a reasonable time for it plox. Preferably 4-6pm EST
-
Everyone who would like to help out in spreading the word please join my facebook page. And tell as many people you know about it.
Also if we can get more players I am open to holding $25 2v2 tournaments every month. Or maybe $10 2v2 tournaments every other week.
Tell me what you think guys.,

I think consistency will be the key, as long as you are able to keep hosting them like you suggest I am sure the number of players who come will continue to rise.

antihack should be mandatory.

antihack should be mandatory.
lets hope iL will make it mandatory... i really dont see why the hell not.
even if there ARE false positives, it will be way easier to detect them with more players, so... win-win

Thats what i am thinking although so far i haven't gotten anybody to agree to come....
Part of me thinks it might be better if Burnt or somebody with more clout organizes it.
And ill just be responsible for the cash prizes....

Keep updating the thread on here and awareness on the server...people will come. Heck, most people will just show up the day of the tourney wanting to play. So I would also keep that option open to players.

ask burnt (or other admin) for the /announce account and /announce it once in a while... i think

Or just put that command in a bot with a idle timer. Think SB supports that, none of the newer bots don't.

When it comes to tournament day just be sure to keep telling each player who joins the channel about your tournament / time of it. Try logging on as early as you can that morning letting people know.
I put it as the main channel greet for now.
If I can make it that day I will help out for sure. Most people will not sign up ahead of time or will want you to do it for them. That's why I just rather use forums for brackets then other sites, plus it gets more people here on the forums who can run into other topics and possibly sign up here.
Easy that way to just write down their names and throw it into a bracket , and add the link to your profile. If you want as many people as possible playing in it then that is probably your best bet without having your tournament start late due to people still needing to register.
You will run into a lot of guys who will want to keep playing in their current game instead of reporting to the channel for the start time. Be sure to give them deadlines before advancing their opponent so one of your brackets will not fall to far behind the other, causing even more afk's and making for a longer night and chances of people disappearing.

Thanks right now i have it set for 8pm eastern time which it think seems reasonable enough. Since its the first one I doubt it will last longer than an hour or 2
-
A 16 player gow ef tournament will go for about 3-4 hours if its best of 3 series and a bo5 finals.
That is a pretty late start time and could be going pretty late into the night for a lot of people. Could give some different people a chance to play who don't usually get to though. I would suggest for something that late to be best of 1 rounds and best of 3 finals to make it time convenient.
-
I will be very surprised if we actually got 16 people participating this Saturday, though maybe next month we should expect for it.
I am thinking that it will be single elimination until the finals which will be bo3.
Only question is should we require warvid to be loading during all the matches

8pm... 2am start for me. START. and its usually delayed by ~~30mins.

-
lol alright fine 6pm eastern time i suppose would be better for the European players ill change it now.
-
well looks like I am pushing it back even earlier now. I didn't realize how late 6pm eastern is for some players.
So now I keeping it at 4pm eastern time. And I am keeping it there.
-
Sounds like a good start time.
