I know, I'm having this problem on all my other websites as well. In the process of contacting support about it. If you receive a 408/409 (or any other) error, please ss and attach here.

Any problems today? So far speeds seem normal for all sites, hopefully they fixed whatever was causing it.

It seems when many users are logged in at once it occurs.

The connection has timed out

The server at forum.war2.ru is taking too long to respond.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

So far nothing helpful, the typical "Oh, everything looks fine on our end, trying optimizing your websites" spiel.

Sorry guys, I know speeds are atrocious atm. I'm getting downtime reports out the ass from Pingdom and other reliable sources, so it's getting to the point where they can no longer deny it and will have to do something. Stand by.

Finally got past the low level support flunkies, the verdict is that the lag spikes were caused by traffic filtering that was enabled in response to an attack on the hosting server, and everything is copacetic now. Server uptime & response time are steady since yesterday at noon EST, except for one tiny blip this morning at 6AM.

If anyone starts seeing speed issues again please email me about it (better than posting here) by clicking the icon beneath my name.
