Post by: shesycompany on August 01, 2015, 10:08:32 AM
in war3 they have bots that wait for a specific amount of players and auto hosts, would these bots work on war2?

There is already a gamebot in the channel if you want to use it.  It's mine, so it's prejudice on what it hosts,  but its there and does work.  You can also host your own if you want,  but it's not an easy task currently because it requires you to be able to host to begin with and if you cant, then its not worth setting up since it requires to much technical knowledge.  If you can already host,  it's not so bad if you dont mind losing use of your computer :P

Sounds like his bots need to restart war2.

I also released my macro bot awhile ago.

Features: (game name + counter, custom time limits, Auto Start, different maps.)

I did not add a command engine so no user control. Did not ever add the key for fixed order. So no custom TVP!

It will host a regular games, and it will host use map settings for 24/7 RPG maps or what ever.

So if you want to load a RPG map do this.

Create
choose map rpg map for example.
type a name real fast
then create game
leave the game.
You are all set up. Once you back in channel hit Insert to start hosting.

My bot, iL's bot, is in the mods section ;)

The issue was with the host using random UDP ports after the initial connection (some sort of symmetric nat monkey business).  So the first hosted game or two would work, but subsequent games would not.  I've since switched hosts and in the process of moving the VM there.

I haven't seen any game bots in the channel in months. I think it was a real helpful thing, especially for new people. Hell, we even needed to use it last night when nobody could host. Will this bot be back on anytime soon?

Maybe assign special icons to host bots so people can identify them?

I've had a game bot in the channel off and on,  it's the script that I asked iL to post from the bot he had written.  It's NOT a perfect script thats for sure.  It has lots of bugs in it, but as I learn what those are,  I'll fix them as I have time.  So far it seems like pausing the game before the bot leaves causes it to not leave a game.  Havent had time to fix it yet, so I just put a note in the msgs saying not to pause before the bot leaves the game.  Eventually I plan to completely re-write it so that it doesnt have dependencies like stealthbot and nncron.  But to get one up quickly,  using iL's for now was the logical answer since I cannot host myself either now due to Verizon's change to their network in July.

Nothing stop it from being revived right now...people just don't care to play anymore.

True that's why the anti hack was never made or released. Nobody cared enough besides us.

You think hacks are what killed this game lol? Even when it's made, we'll still need another driving force to get people on.

You can add inactive and dysfunctional administration to the list. [emoji19]

Agree, i had the same plans last year after release. I don't think i'll have enough time for that ever.
Lance, nice to see you got it. I hope you will do it one day...

So far it seems like pausing the game before the bot leaves causes it to not leave a game.
Is it? I tried that, leaved fine. Mouseclick to (10, 10) instead of F10 worked fine for me...

i hope it gets done. and the anti-hack! and then we shall see w2 revive
I hope so, sorry, i still have much work and a little tired of all that war2 things, so antihack project is still not ready.
I hope to release it soon, at least the first alpha version to show somethng to community.

Well I would not go that far.

Admins have lives too they can't do everything themselves they need to grow and form a team like they have but that has led to the server being compromised before.

You're a developer right??
