I was digging around the Alpha version of War 2 when i realized this image was inside the Maindat.war :))
(https://i.ibb.co/WDFxTch/231.png) (https://imgbb.com/)
It was a really nice find that confirms War2 uses the same engine as War1
Have you find something like this before?

So does this mean you have the source code for Warcraft early versions?

https://wow.gamepedia.com/Flowerpicker_clan
The Flowerpicker clan was an easter egg in Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal. It was the stored name for the blue orc (Player 2), but since the blue orc slot was never used in a campaign mission as an active player, the name never appeared in-game, though the text string for its title still appeared in the game's data files.
Indeed, unlike the clans in Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, the Beyond the Dark Portal clan names only appeared in the single-player campaign, and not in custom games. Thus, while the unused Alliance and Horde teams in Tides of Darkness - the yellow team labelled "Horde Traitors" and "Alliance Traitors," respectively - were visible to players despite never appearing in the campaign, the unused blue Horde team's name never showed up without mining the datafiles.
In the mission Dance of the Laughing Skull, the Laughing Skull units produced by the Alliance Expedition are blue, the color of the Flowerpicker clan.

Yes, war2 have some resources from war1:
if you unpack war2dat.mpq or install.exe, you can find a texture for wolf raider, a sound for kennels, maybe something else.
Blizzard "forgot" several war1-related resources in their war2 distribution.

Is there any possible way to decompress .war files completely and not only image, sounds, music, or pud files? I mean, .bin and other files too?
Just like we do with .mpq files (you can decompress everything), but with .war files ???

I definitely did that years ago when i repacked tomes.* for map editor, but i can't find that way now.
The only unpacker i found can't find names and unpacks all files as something like 001, 002, etc.
I also looked into wargus wartool, but didn't understand it well.
Let me know if someone knows better way.

And how you decompress image, sounds, music, or pud files?
Looks like i didn't find that tool.

I edited w1 missions with hex editor, its possible make map with but its very hard and waste time
OFC i used wardraft to open data.war
-
Exactly! Using WarDraft you can navigate .war files and eventually extract files from them

Not really. It just means that image was in the mpq archive.
My guess is it was originally a placeholder before the war2 title screen was made or something like that.
I'm sure they built on the stuff that did for WC1, there may even be the odd routine here and there which is still the same, but I believe the WC2 engine was pretty much a ground up re-write. The SC1 engine was an expansion of the WC2 engine.
There's a SC1 mouse pointer in one of the war2bne files.
But an alpha version would be a very interesting thing to have a look at. Where did you get it?

Wow!
Very interesting archive, deserves to download it totally.
I even didn't know there were so many different versions for so many different Blizzard games!

Thats the web where i found the Alpha version which contain the photo of the first post of this thread ;)
There is also the Shareware CD versiĆ³n (1.08ish), but its only a RIP, not the actual CD, the one we talked about in the other thread.
On the other hand, i managed to extract the 6 exclusive scenarios (PUDs) of the Shareware version :) and test them in War2Combat. They work perfectly!!
There are also 5 scenarios hidden in there, that apear to be testing puds, as you instantly died and can't run away from enemies.
I'm looking inside the other versions to find secret files! :D
