Here's the new branch #4 of Combat, with several new ideas.
I have plans to continue developing this branch and stop 3.0 and 3.1 development.
Here's time of fast internet connections and multi-TB drives, so there's no more reason to save each Kb.
I added the campaign, all the classic and several custom maps, restored all the unit sounds and all the art.
I also decreased the wave compression ratio to get better sound.
And everything increased total size from 13 to 22 Mb.
I just didn't add sound of campaign briefings because it should request more 20+ Mb.
Also including music should request more 50+ Mb.
And including videos should reguest more 200+ Mb.
But let's go to the direction of beauty and functionality instead of smallest size.
New combat also includes War2PLoader which is autoupdated tool and that's why i can update it as fast as i wish without combat reinstalling.
2 main things are still not perfect in currently exising war2 is palette problems in windows 7 and problems in windows 8-10.
I hope to resolve these problems some day...
What's new:

- Added units annoy voices and heroes voices
- Restored AI Extended for AIE maps
- Campaign added. Choice between violent comp AI and campaign
- Color/icons fixes by DirectDraw for new Windows
- "Random port" option to allow several connections from the same subnet using common external ip
- GOW EF High by default for new installations
- WPpatch replaced by War2PLoader: new autoupdating utility with UPNP support and more
- Fixes and updates in installer

At least that should help those who can't config their routers if these routers support uPNP.
It will not help with other hosting problems...

Good work. I know a lot of our posters enjoy the online experience but there has been very many people in the past who asked me about the campaign so I am glad that is added and hopefully those who play it decide to game with us as well!

For those who asks about something not working:
Here's the list of options with choice.
Make sure you made choice you need selecting checkboxes.
Default choice for XP is:
(http://forum.war2.ru/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=350.0;attach=129)
Should be the same for win 8
And ddraw should be switched on for win 7 by default.
You can change this default selection if you want, it will remember your choice for the time reinstall.
Also note that it will not delete directdraw (and also war2ppatcher and war2ploader) if you reinstall it unchecked with previously installed it checked to the same folder. You should uninstall and then install it again. You see a warning message about that if you try.
Maybe i'll change that in future versions.
Other options (black2pink, gateways), should be added/removed properly.
I also worry a little: i use new feature: self-made mpq packer for this version. I checked it carefully, but maybe something goes wrong with it?

I didn't research anything for win8 yet.

yes, i think that's what he means. War2combat 3.15 and War2combat 4.0 behave the same and have the same color problems on windows 8

If you have an original war2 CD you can just copy install.exe (500 MB) from CD to combat directory overwriting that small combat install.exe.
That will make combat data identical to original: with all the same music and videos. (Without campaign briefings only). And with all the combat fixes.

Oh, i was wrong: campaign briefings are also included to install.exe. So that will be 100% full version with replaced install.exe. :)

And combat size is 23 Mb.
Campaign briefings +98Mb (uncompressed)
Music +190Mb.
Videos + 367Mb.
That's why total size would be huge.
I'll try to resolve that problem for next versions...

what kind of antivirus is that lmao? Always a way around it, unless you don't have admin rights to the computer which probably stops you from downloading .exe's or running them.

Are you sure that it is not giving you its thoughts on the program? Because it flags the program automatically since it is a unknown publisher...there is usually a way to add a exception. Post SS of message?

I changed the link on the main page.
Just click the banner about to download 3.15, it will download 4.01. I hope mousey will change the banner when she have time.
3.15 and 3.05 are still available on "downloads" page.
4.01 is virus-free. No one of known antivirus causes false-positive for it.

Do you have admin rights to that computer? I know its your work computer so you might not.
Can you send me a screenshot of when you click "more" in Insight. I run a similar version of this on one of my network computers.
What i would do is just close out of the antivirus for 2 minutes...install the exe...and restart it back up lol. Probably the easiest way rather than going through steps to add a exception to it.

im not really trying to troubleshoot this. i dont care if war2 isn't on the computer because the computer is for work. i just wanted to share the antivirus warning - that's something new players could be getting and it could stop them from installing war2.

otherwise the same, but .zip download works
recommendation: change front page link to .zip

It's not saying it's a virus! It's saying thus file is not trusted few users. And if your not admin then it's not likely you could exclude it.

I know it's not saying it's a virus. But it still flags it for the .exe version. Not so for the .zip version though. We want to therefore direct people to the .zip version to avoid setting off any alarm bells.

It shouldnt even be a problem...long as you have admin rights which most users have...a exe would be fine...however you should load a zip file anyways.

It's an officially supported option for combat to work with no admin rights.

Not with antivirus programs....admin rights would easily allow you to bypass that advisory that blid posted.

Sure, i agree. But antivirus programs should not write anything suspicious about combat and it's elements.
I hope there will be 5 symantec users to allow combat soon to resolve blid's problem.

google Chrome gave me flags when trying to download 4.0. In chrome i had to go to >settings > advanced setting > uncheck box that says "Enable phishing and malware protection"
then AVG gave me a flag for war2patch i think. It gave me the flag when i tried launching war2combat for the first time. I had to manually allow it.

If i never played war2 on server.war2.ru before and that was my first time trying to play the game/download it... I would have stopped after seeing Chrome and AVG give me 2 different warnings and never played the game.
i am confident it is stopping many users from downloading/installing/logging on to server.

That's awesome that several of those who couldn't host can host now cause of the version change. It's starting to incorporate war2custom aspects now by fixing hosting for most :d
