Title: How to add your own music?
Post by: Hesh on February 06, 2016, 02:50:33 PM
Is it possible for me to add my own music to the game? Replace the original soundtracks with my own?

My information has been incorrect. You can add units sounds, etc. The music location comes from this path
install.exe + "/Music/Hum1.wav*" This is why sounds and music work with the install.exe pasted in the war2 folder.

I've been able to hack the name of the file and directory but not at the root just from "/Music/+". Lets make this thread a work in progress thread. [WIP] I've been working on this for a month or so and consider this a project.

Hm, you can just remove the required music (install.exe + "/Music/Hum1.wav*") from install.exe using mpq editor and then to add your custom wav-file as the same name to the same install.exe.
Just make sure your wav-file have proper bitrate/mono (i don't remember exact parameters, just look into original bitrate parameters)...

Yes this does work. Get a MPQ editor open the "Install.exe" then add your filelist then boom you see music folder... export and import your wav files.

I know this is late but I just recently got back to War2. I have tried what iL suggested, replacing the .wav files, I checked for bitrate/mono (22Hz) and everything but it just freezes my game. I even renamed HUMAN2.wav to ORC2.wav and replaced it and they both have the same parametres, my game just freezes and I have to ctrl + alt + delete and log off.

I downloaded that.... I used it and I have music on my game. But I don't want those soundtracks, I want others. I edited install.exe with an mpq editor but it just freezes my game when I start with the race I put the sound on.

Can you give me a link to winmpq? I'll download it again and see what I can do later.

This thread is no longer relevant, since I posted another thread on how to do it.
