Title: Stock Picks: Post your favorite stocks.
Post by: ~ToRa~ on August 29, 2017, 11:11:13 AM
I don't know how many Warcraft 2 players are in the stock market.
But I am a firm believer everyone should own real estate and equities.

Post your favorite common stocks or market funds so everyone can benefit from your long term investment goals.

Right now I own,

Ford- https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/f?p=f

^bought this back in 2009 when it was dirt cheap.

Aig- https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AIG?p=AIG

^Also bought this in 2009 hasn't done much for some time.

Metlife- https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/MET?p=MET

^I've owned this since 2007 first stock I ever bought pretty stagnant as of late.

 Ctic- https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/CTIC?p=CTIC

^^I bought this "shit" and I do mean "shit" back in 2010 when I was experimenting in day trading.(I will not do it again.)
I still own some.

Sprint- https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/S?p=S
I bought Sprint back in 2009 I do see it as a long term play.

Mcdonalds- https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/MCD?p=MCD
This I bought in 2012 when it was around $100. Mcd'd has made me apprehensive but they have been doing well as of late.

CBL-  https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/CBL?p=CBL
Easily the 2nd dumbest stock pick I've made in recent memory. I bout 100 shares in 2008 right before Lehman bro's went under. I still don't know why I own these.

You don't need $10,000 to get started in the stock market.
When I was 18 my uncle gave me $1,000 to open a vanguard account.

https://investor.vanguard.com/home/?WT.srch=1&cmpgn=PS:RE

Vanguard requires that you open with $1,000 at which point you can select from different investment styles. 70/30 mix of bonds and stocks, 50/50, 20/80. ETC.

You can have as little as $100 or as much as $1,200 per month automatically withdrawn from your bank account each month which will contribute to your fund.
Once you reach the age of 65-70 you will be able to withdraw from your fund tax free.

Furthermore if you don't want to open an IRA account you are more than free to open a normal brokerage account.

https://www.tdameritrade.com/home.page (https://www.tdameritrade.com/home.page)

Td ameritrade doesn't have any min income balances. They charge a flat fee of $10 per trade.

Please don't use lack of income as an excuse for not being able to enter the stock market.
I opened a td ameritrade account when I was 20 with only $200.

There is a difference between a trader and an investor. A trader typically holds their positions anywhere from 1 day- 5 years. An investor usually holds their positions anywhere from 10-30 years.

Poor people work for their money.
Rich people make their money work for them.

You don't need lots of money in order to invest in the stock market. All you need is proper budgeting and discipline.

i think you're dramatically oversimplifying this, as 1) many people don't make enough money to cover basic expenses let alone invest in stocks and 2) not all employers offer 401k-type plans. plus if you start your own business or something you don't get shit either

There are people living on or bellow the poverty line that are unable to save money.
However the majority of people aren't living under these conditions.

Someone who invests as little as $200 a month can easily see realized gains of up to 300% after 30 years.
Thats $600,000 of tax free income if it was invested in an IRA.

Furthermore while it is ideal to have an employer match your IRA contributions you don't need an employer to start an IRA. There are plenty index funds that will fill this role easily enough.

aint nobody got time for this

Which is another reason why so many Americans are forced to work until they drop. If a man or women in their 20s saves 15-30% of their monthly wages and invests it properly he or she will have saved enough to retire comfortably in their 60s-70s.

Most people are lazy.

you shouldn't be buying stock. stock is just an illusion that the banks and trillionares are making money somehow other than just printing it at the federal reserve, and taxing the us population for it with almost 30% interest.

if you really want any sort of financial security, get gold and/or silver, and an assault rifle.

i'm not saying that it's impossible. I'm saying that it's risky with the ponzi scheme that they are implementing with the US currency. Also with BRICS there's going to be even more massive inflation.

And the US is trying to get in and demolish tons of Islamic nations, the axis of resistance to Israel:Iran, Pakistan, Jordan and Syria. That's why they're using North Korea as a stepping stone. A country with the GPD of West Virginia. I thought all Muslims were up on this.

The stock market is not a ponzi scheme.
It is an essential tool all people who wish to retire comfortably use to grow their savings.
In 1996 someone who invested 50k in the Dowjones would see their nest egg grow to over 200k today.

A monthly savings of $200-$500 after 30 years would be worth $72,000-$180,000 in a savings account at the bank.
A monthly contribution of $200-$500 after 30 years would be worth $150,000-$600,000 in a IRA index fund.

There is a lot of speculation and trading in the stock market which can net someone huge gains or can have someone see huge losses. However realize the difference between trading and investing.
Take this bio tech stock. This is a trade

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/SKPBF?p=SKPBF

It's gone up over 29% in one day. Someone that bought just 1k worth of this just yesterday would have seen their trade worth $1,290 today. ( $290 for just clicking a few buttons.)

There are people who just sit at their comp for 5 hours a day looking at charts and trading highly volatile equities. This is akin to card counting at a casino. Is it possible you can make money doing it? Yes. Is it likely you will? No.

https://finance.yahoo.com/most-active

-

Now let's say you saved $10,000 and you've decided you want to use this money for your future. Meaning you have no intention of touching this money for at least 5-10 years. There are literally 100s of companies you could invest your money in.
https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/GM?p=GM

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/GOOGL?p=GOOGL

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/UAL?p=UAL

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/MCD?p=MCD

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/GS?p=GS

Investing money in any of these companies isn't a gamble. These corporations are making billions of dollars a year so it's a good idea to own shares in these corporations so you can share in their success.
