I think TK has some great ideas, but I think that his view on raising money is a bit optimistic.  I don't think it's so much that we need cash prizes to draw in old players who will only participate in a tournament on that one day.

You misunderstood his idea. He proposed a tournament with a cash prize for new players only. A decent prize gives new users incentive to log on and play regularly enough to improve. When they do, they meet and form bonds with other players which fosters the atmosphere you're talking about. It's a great idea IMO.

There's also no denying that the FBA and other forms of advertising some months ago resulted in a big boost to the number of active players. Money isn't "the" answer, but it's a big part of it.

I checked the collected data from antihack 2 days ago and caught several times when different hacks have been activated from different ips.Let me finish server-side backend for antihack to inform people when you use antihack (and probably kick you from the server).

It's the dawn of a new era of WC2 for sure!

No, don't think so. Ganz, EQ, USA-Archer are all known to have made multiple accounts and no particular action taken against them. I would say it's strongly discouraged though to prevent confusion.

@Ryu, he wanted to participate in a game he enjoys without being innundated with harrassment/religious slurs every time he logged on, which is the situation he found himself in when he made the aka. Totally understandable imo.

No offense meant, but why did it take everyone so long to start developing anti-hacks I wonder? Hacks have been a problem for years and years, but only now at this late hour are people finally taking steps to counter them. Where was the interest years ago when the game had far more players than it does now?

LOL I was thinking about that. Anyways yes we can find his values and fuck them totally. The peon, farm, etc. Yes I was going to use it as a copy and paste build order, it's in the CPU plays exe in mod section too. I was thinking what if I locked peoples building to a strategy??

For example hall, farm, farm, barrack..
I'm playing war2 I build a hall, now it only let's me build a farm then another one, then barracks... could be something used to teach a stately build order.

That's a cool idea, could be very useful for training purposes.

Hate that Light's catching so much flak, he's always come across as a decent, reasonable guy and has put a lot of energy into helping the server. Maybe there's a side to him I haven't seen, but it's hard to fault a guy for talking shit in response to being incessantly shit talked himself, or for wanting to avoid slogging through an ocean of slander and discrimination by switching to an aka. *shrug*

Still don't get why tk is so damn bitter either. Because we beefed at him for doing his own thing? He seems like he's stuck in this petulant little bubble of victimhood and refuses to entertain outside perspectives. The idea that starting a new forum has undone all the good of his & Burnt's advertising, or in any way harmed the overall community, is preposterous. The idea that the "warning system" I set up for said forum was somehow the catalyst for the server's ultimate demise is just.. retarded, lol. I think altogether, like half a dozen total forum users have ever been warned for anything. Make me the master bad guy if you want people, but that is some seriously limp justification for it.

IMO the server is on the decline because it's been declining for years. We all know it. It's nothing new. I do agree with tk on one point though -- we'd need funds to truly "revive" the game. Money for advertising, cash prizes for tournies, paying for reliable and timely development, etc.. We're almost certainly not going to get it though, unless Burnt wins the lotto or something. c: None of ru's admins are lazy, and they aren't killing the server, they just have finite time & money that they can reasonably sink into it. The very worst that admins can be accused of is failing to save the server, but hey, then again, so are you!

You were having lag issues eq? If you set resolution to 640x480, resolution downscale to none, fps to 30, veryfast, bitrate to like 1000? then quality should be good, but you may lag. If you lag then you're stuck with lower quality until pc/isp improves.

This is really the bottom line, and the only reason I reversed one (1) warning. It's so obvious, I don't understand how there can be 1930249 pages of arguing about it. If a warning is given for something that isn't against the rules, that's incorrect. If the the warner refuses to acknowledge this fact, then that's intellectual dishonesty. It's no secret that most people here don't like claw, so it's warning him without justification just because you don't like the guy that's biased, not the other way around. I have no problem warning him if he ever deserves it, he's just been smart enough not to so far.

And, he's also right about "Polack":

EQ, when iL agreed to hold the vote didn't you promise him that'd you'd stop spamming threads with posts about closing the client, no matter the result? Aren't you a man of your word? The vote was taken and the matter settled, + antihack is coming which obsoletes closing clients anyway. You were understandably upset that the vote didn't go the way you wanted, so you left for awhile to play Heroes of whatever, which is fine. This here though, this reneging on your agreement, it's not the way.
