BDS Victory: Irish Senate Approves Bill Boycotting Israeli Settlement Goods

Nice, hopefully next they can pass the bill to bombard Tel Aviv with sarin gas

Liberals always throw on the swastika and the Klan hood when shit gets real lol

and your example of a better, fairer working constitution is?

Constitution (Fundamental law) of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics

This is not a working example. It failed. Miserably. Here's why:

ARTICLE 10. The right of citizens to personal ownership of their incomes from work and of their savings, of their dwelling houses and subsidiary household economy, their household furniture and utensils and articles of personal use and convenience, as well as the right of inheritance of personal property of citizens, is protected by law.

So everything that isn't the house you live in and it's contents can be immeciately seized by the state UNLESS you inherited it.... i.e. the rich can keep their wealth, the poor get everything taken.

ARTICLE 17. To every Union Republic is reserved the right freely to secede from the U.S.S.R.

ARTICLE 20. In the event of a discrepancy between a law of a Union Republic and an all-Union law, the all-Union law prevails.

Your country has been annexed. Your laws and traditions now mean nothing unless they are so inconsequential that we don't even care about them.

ARTICLE 51. The Supreme Soviet of the U.S.S.R. when it deems necessary, appoints commissions of enquiry and investigation on any matter.

It is the duty of all institutions and public servants to comply with the demands of these commissions and to submit to them the necessary materials and documents.

We will do whatever we want whenever we want to anybody and if you do not comply you will be arrested.

ARTICLE 52. A member of the Supreme Soviet of the U.S.S.R. may not be prosecuted or arrested without the consent of the Supreme Soviet of the U.S.S.R., and during the period when the Supreme Soviet of the U.S.S.R. is not in session, without the consent of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the U.S.S.R.

ARTICLE 113. Supreme supervisory power over the strict execution of the laws by all People's Commissariats and institutions subordinated to them, as well as by public servants and citizens of the U.S.S.R. is vested in the Procurator of the U.S.S.R.

ARTICLE 114. The Procurator of the U.S.S.R. is appointed by the Supreme Soviet of the U.S.S.R. for a term of seven years.

Whatever any judge in any court says it can be overruled by Darth freakin' Vader.

Honestly I had no idea it was that bad. I have never looked at the soviet constitution before but it reads like a fascist dictatorship....... UNBELIEVABLE

Articles 118 - 133 have some really good "rights" in them, but as history showed, they mean nothing if the ruling class have given themselves supreme dictatorial power to ignore and overrule the laws any time they want.

It is a great pity because a they are mostly a very nice set of human rights

The people making the laws can NOT be above the law.

easycompany whats up, i got a jam for you my boy

The guys who wrote the US constitution were having a REAL go at being decent human beings, and arguably did a better job than anyone else in history.

Which movie theater is communism coming to?

Kill yourself.

Wasn't slavery abolished? Isn't that the point?

Slavery was abolished...after practically every other country in the world had already abolished it, and after the cause of preserving slavery ignited a civil war that almost destroyed the country, and it was "abolished" but then replaced by exploitative economic relationships like sharecropping that were practically identical to slavery, then Jim Crow and redlining, and then the present.

The native genocide was committed but the european settlers who originally invaded north america?

Those are the same people who founded America and at America's founding it only contained the original 13 colonies, the rest of the country was conquered and its natives exterminated. A big reason for secession, mentioned by the founders many times specifically, was that the British crown would not let them be as ruthlessly expansionist into native territory as they wanted.

I thought the US was founded after the civil war, and the anti-slavery side won it. When they founded their new nation the "founding fathers" wrote a constitution for it that was based on freedom and equality for all. This is a good base for the laws of a nation.

wait...what lol

Indeed the US activities in Iraq is one of the many issues that I would like Americans to think about and consider what their founding fathers would make of this type of behavior.

Again, the founders exterminated much of the native population in the territories they ruled. They enshrined an economy built on African slavery into the Constitution. They fought expansionist wars for the venal financial interests of the slave owning aristocrats who founded and ruled the country. Why would these people give a shit about Iraq?

But George Washington was not involved in any of these crimes, and IMHO the US constitution remains one of the best documents of it's type in the world.

I think any document that legally enshrines slavery sucks ass.

Yeah that stuff is terrible. Someone should do something about it. Someone should make people think about what is being done in the name of their nation. How would you suggest doing that?

Communist revolution

This thread isn't about Russia or China, but if I was talking about them then you're absolutely right, I would say different things because they are different countries, but I would still have the same intent, which is to get people to think about and be interested in the actions that their country undertakes.

My point is you wouldn't make excuses for their atrocities the way you make excuses for America's.

Huffington post is liberal propaganda.

lol retard

Also everything you posted is just American exceptionalist platitudes there's not really anything to discuss.

Platitudes, perhaps - they are more likely to be heeded than rampant mud-slinging, but "exceptionalist"?

I believe listing American atrocities along with those from other nations all over the world and stating that they are all unacceptable is in no way "exceptionalist". Attempting to infer that these crimes are somehow exceptional because they have been committed by Americans is.

The people who are in the best position to make a difference about these things are Americans. If you want to be ignored, just keep hurling insults.

It's all the bullshit about how sure, America might objectively and demonstrably be a bloodthirsty empire that has wrought more carnage and suffering on the world than any state before it, but, heck, those Founding Fathers sure were trying their best and sure were great guys (ignore the slavery and native genocide lol), and we are just such a plucky country, well heck, everyone makes mistakes sometimes right guys? 1 million dead Iraqis...just a little mistake, oops! The actual country that did this is fine though. Oh Libya has gone from being a stable country and the wealthiest in Africa to having open air slave markets after the American invasion, haha oops! Oh no all these orphaned children at the border, haha oops, we tried our best though haha. Oops another person dead from lack of insurance, ah heck come on guys haha we're really trying hard!!! That last one is probably fake news because it's not from CNN btw lol!

You wouldn't talk about a country like Russia or China the same way
