Yes I do agree (and there is no sarcasm or irony behind my words, I mean what I say) that I could indeed be friendlier - even if someone makes personal attacks every time they talk to me. And indeed honing this skill, staying friendly, is indeed a very valuable skill to have.

Because you can never ever force knowledge to someones head. If you start arguing, more often than not, no progress will be made. Quite the contrary: people will get radicalized and they will strengthen their beliefs - this is a pattern recorded by neuroscience. So indeed, we all are entitled to our opinions - even though maybe the opinions are based on slim reasonings.

Here's a good branch for thinking: what are some good ways to react to personal attacks which hold no merit? Such as "you're an asshole" "you're a retard" - without any evidence or any reasoning behind the words used.

Realize you are an asshole and a retard and politely be quiet and listen to your betters. Allah Ackbar!
