Why don't we have this feature??
-
cuz everyone would have negative rep, especially claw/smurfking
-
No they would be rep fucked. LOL
-
what would a rep plugin do ?
-
There is a karma plugin built-in:
Karma
Karma is a feature that shows the popularity of a member. Members, if allowed, can 'applaud' or 'smite' other members, which is how their popularity is calculated.
Guys wanna give it a shot?

*sigh* im neutral but why not. Some people seem excited
-
like facebook likes?
do u get to see who applauded or smited?
i dont see that any useful anyway
theres not even 10 members frequenting the forum
and it would promote more of the eq-ganz-noobryu-winchester bashin smiteing each other 24/7

only way that would happen is if you had a bot

Probably true. Who was it that said Smurfking is the most rational poster on the forum lately?

I am pretty sure you fall into your own little special group, you washed up pedo.
-
Um let's give it a shot so the community could determine the user.
So any threads get moved if flame in them lol.......
-
it would be better to upvote/downvote posts like LoL forums has.
-
the community already determined the rules, so why not follow these rules

I said that lol. But actually I think we may as well give reputation a shot. When someone posts something funny or kewl it can get some upvotes
-
Alright enable the plug in ;)
-
Aight, I'll enable karma and we can mess around with it. Looks like it doesn't do much out of the box but there are mods available to enhance it.
Lets people give a reason for adjusting karma: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/?mod=192 (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/?mod=192)
Visual representation on individual posts: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3474 (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3474)
There's also an entirely separate Reputation mod that does similar to karma + the above mods: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/?mod=1129 (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/?mod=1129) Decisions, decisions.
ETA - Here's another interesting option for "Liking" posts (this functionality also sometimes called "thanking"): http://smfhelp.org/index.php?topic=63.0 (http://smfhelp.org/index.php?topic=63.0)
-
im still unsure what does this karma help with?
i understand it would help if there were 500 of us and we didnt knew each other
but we are not even 10 or 15, a handful
i think we know each other and what are posting habits already are
said it earlier and say it again
this karma is only causing more division amongs the very small reduced warcraft2 citizenship.
remove asap
:P
smurfking out

mousey do a check on the forum games thread instead
that might actually get the recurrent forumspammers busy building up scores and could probably reduce the amount of trashposts!!
-
yes bastards, i have +1 karma! Ask about me!!!
-
lol this karma thing is just EGO
(http://www.sentence4u.com/Content/Image/1027-This-Is-Why-People-Are-Addicted-To-Facebook-Your-Ego-Needs-Likes.jpg)

enjoy your +0 life
-
well if you must insist
let me remind you of this thing called math
+1 -10 = -9
-7 here
:-\
but MEH, this karma ill just ignore :P

huge failure.
-
Ehh now you came see a community base a decision on a member. Alot of us deserve the ratings we get. More positive people will now stand out...
-
12 ppl isnt a community though.
its a handful, a small group.
-
Hmmm, seeing this thing in action now, I don't like it so much, since it's just an ongoing tally and doesn't reveal if a particular post was popular or unpopular.
-
Well it's called "karma", I'm not surprised it isn't post specific. I think this is more what people have in mind: http://smfhelp.org/index.php?topic=63.0 (http://smfhelp.org/index.php?topic=63.0) It sounds like the next version of SMF is phasing out karma entirely in favor of something more like this.

this one sucks too cause there is no negative votes.

Not worth doing if you can't tear people down, eh Ganz?

Not worth doing if you can't tear people down, eh Ganz?
The whole purpose of the plugin is to show the legitimacy of a post. Having just a positive number is meaniningless, so what if a post has 10 likes but 50 people would have disliked it? -40 would be a much more accurate representation than +10 in this case. However, I can understand how you dislike negative rep since you seem to be highly unpopular around these parts.
-
Its just another flaw in her overall failed system. She thinks she doing a great job but in reality shes fucking up what is left over of a small community. Who does she think shes ordering around...a bunch of 10 year olds? With her warning/"reform" system and anger/control issues.

Here is the problem with mouse. She selectively enforces the rules and has anger issues and holds personal grudges which is the opposite of what a mod should be. They should be neutral.

That's a nice idea, but any such plugin would be useless here because people like yourself are too vindictive to give honest feedback based on content, and not petty bullshit like personal feuds. The only purpose of this plugin is to show who likes a particular posts. I'm sure there are others that do what you describe though. (In fact, I think I linked one in an earlier post.)

All the moderation actions I take are neutral. Other mods can be a punching bag for people's verbal abuse if they want, but I'm personally not going to kiss anyone's ass when they act like as big of an asshole as you and your buddy Ryu do. Go ahead and tag team me all you like, it's not going to change the perfectly reasonable moderation system that no one else has a problem with but the two of you. You just expect warnings to be given for whatever YOU want (namely, deleting every single insult that anyone directs at you ever), and when they're not then of course everything is biased. And Ryu just thinks he's god's gift to the forum and simple, easy-to-follow rules should apply to everyone but him. You're both as hateful and irrational as Equinox. I didn't waste my time on him, and I'm not wasting it on either of you.

if only... he even wants you to warn people that DONT insult him (example here, it was worth the formal complain thread according to ganz: http://forum.war2.ru/index.php/topic,467.msg6007.html#msg6007 (http://forum.war2.ru/index.php/topic,467.msg6007.html#msg6007))

I'll let blid deal with that little gem. Meanwhile, why don't you try going through your recent posts and counting how many defaming personal attacks you've thrown my way in the past couple days?

its different, your a mod, you shouldn't behave in that manner. Look at how blid and iL act like professionals.

The problem with this plug-in is that I can see people's karma score but I can't see any score on any individual post. So if I see Ganz has 7 smites, I might wonder, oh, what did he do to make 7 people upset? There's no way to know unless I'm missing something. But if I'm right then there's really no use for this plug-in. It basically makes the forum a popularity contest where people can go and chain vote on all of someone's posts and nobody knows who voted or on what posts, so no one learns anything from it.

Yes, this is the main problem that makes karma plug-in mostly useless for any practical purposes. Just to use it for fun.
I also think karma plun-in will not show any sensible results while we have different groups of members who dislike each other and can change other's karma. They will just do that for other members they dislike and karma will depend on their activity only, not on any real actions.
That's just my opinions, so let's try that at least for fun and look how it will go.
-
Well, it's cool if you can see which posts got applauded or smited. Because then you can see some post that is +5 or something with 5 people liking it, and you can see who liked it, and you can be like, Oh, this post was funny and everyone liked it.
Or you can see some bad post that everyone smites, and you can be like, Oh, guess this person got shown a thing or two for making this bad comment. Y'know?
As is, it's like a black box.
-
blid, you're being too vague and your language is too sophisticated. What do you mean exactly?
-
We need a reputation Plug in.
ONLY ONE ACCOUNT CAN LEAVE A COMMENT AND -1 +1
SO THE SAME USER CAN'T KEEP SUBTRACTING OVER AND OVER JUST ONLY ONCE.
DEPENDING ON THE USER LEVEL ON FORUMS.. PEON.. AXE THROWER, THE HIGHER THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO -5 +5.

I'm with Tupac on this one. Only once or several times per rank should do.
-
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/?mod=1129
Compatible With:
1.1.10, 1.1.11, 2.0 RC5
Not declared as compatible with 2.0.9 we use, it also changes lots of core files here, with weak checks before changing, so i'd prefer to not use such plugin as soon as it can break the whole forum engine or make it incompatible with some other plugins
-
One implementation of this...
-
That's pretty much this I think: http://smfhelp.org/index.php?topic=63.0 (http://smfhelp.org/index.php?topic=63.0)
And this is what blid was talking about, the visual karma representation on a per post basis: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3474 (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3474)
Neither of those are specifically 2.0.9 compatible but would probably be fine with a manual install.
-
Can you edit and manually install the one I posted?
-
That plugin's older than the two I linked, and it's also much more complex. I agree with what iL said:

YAH that one with thumbs up and down showing per post. Add that in and then we've got something.
-
but i worked so hard on my karma :( and i believe adding that plugin is a goodbye to the current one.
-
This mod adds two new links to the Karma system which you can see in each post. These links contain the number of smites and applauds a post has.
This mod has no configuration since it relies on SMF's karma system settings.
Well, let's give it a shot.
-
but i worked so hard on my karma :( and i believe adding that plugin is a goodbye to the current one.
I don't think so, because - oh, I was about to type out what it said on the link about including applauds and smites per post, but yeah, Mouse quoted it above already. I think it uses the same karma system we have here, it just makes the per post votes visible.
-
Looks like the per post rating is a whole new feature in addition to the general score, which is just like people's overall opinion of you irrespective of individual posts. Now people can give positive or negative feedback on individual posts, and that rating also increments the total Karma score. The downside is that there's no limit to how many times an individual user can up or downvote a given post, so as with general Karma it's pretty easy to inflate the rankings.
-
I gave you a thumbs up on the above post. It's now got 1 thumbs up and it increased your karma ranking by one. That's good & means they are attached. I also clicked the "applaud" link for an iL post and that in turn gave the post a thumbs up so the two are connected in both directions.
I'm not sure if you can vote the same post more than once... you would hope not but who knows... and you can't vote the same person more than once in 15 minutes anyway... which is kind of annoying and kind of good. Prevents vote spamming. But if I am reading the forum and think you made two good posts (if I want to applaud you for putting in the thumbs, and applaud you for fixing the avatars) I can't...
-
I also clicked the "applaud" link for an iL post and that in turn gave the post a thumbs up so the two are connected in both directions.
Oh okay, cool. I wonder if that applies retroactively ? I tested if you can vote on the same post multiple times on your previous post, all three of those upvotes are from me, so doesn't seem to be any restriction there.
The Karma plugin can be configured to allow "x votes per day", so in theory we could set that and disable the "one vote per user per 15 fifteen minutes" restriction. Nevermind, thought I saw that somewhere but I guess I imagined it.. So I guess it's either keep the wait time or allow Karmaspam.
-
It doesn't apply retroactively, because I checked some previously voted on posts and they didn't have any thumbs.
It's weird to me it'd let someone vote on the same post more than once. That shouldn't be possible.
-
........ And Ryu just thinks he's god's gift to the forum and simple.......
Now that made me laugh ;D
