i like it here because i can compare my high scores to all you newbs, i dont know whats bad about the forum game?  it has good functionality, you just like being able to have an extra bail out piece?  i can check out tetrisfriends though......

dunno what tetris friends is (is it facebook game) but the most epic tetris for 2players and the first to come with this idea is tetrinet.

i remember playing it around 97-98.

you connect via ip with another player :P

i used to play tetrinet.  also very interesting to me was The NEW Tetris for n64, i played that a bunch against some bros as well.

the good thing about the tetris here is that it's a community game - everyone can play at their leisure and we have like a real arcade machine in some joint we all frequent the list of top scores...

oh and the other thing i like about these games is that i can play at my own convenience.

to tell you the level id have to play again, i literally didnt even look.  but ill give it another go when i get the chance, and let you know

Isn't it though? Unranked Arena anytime!

I actually found & installed nblox, which is a slightly enhanced version of the other Tetris that's installed. It has hard drop & rudimentary tuning which makes it slightly more playable, still no hold queue though. Unfortunately games have to be specifically modded somehow to work with the forum scoring so it's basically worthless. I kind of agree with blid that the competition is what makes it fun, since the games themselves are pretty bad :D

well, this tetris is single player competition, indirect. I believe there is as much competition in 1v1 arena or FFA as it gets. Direct enemy, playing against each other, sending lines, adapting strategies or targetting, timing...

also here pieces get placed as soon as they touch other blocks so t-spins are not possible. Quite annoying imo

no thats the same issue i have with this tetris,

the split second a block touches another block it gets placed. it is annoying
(talking about the tetris where blid has the 136k score)

There is a tiiiiny delay where you can slide pieces after they touch, but it's way less than it should be.

yes but by level10 the block practically places itself upon touch. theres no time to even turn it around.

plz do next time u play check what lvl u get... the most ive gotten is lvl13 and is practically unplayable at this speed.
think theres something fishy bout this.

just out of curiosity, the 3rd block that appears on that gif, why is it transparent? to me its solid green, is it cuz of the recording gifcam thing

yeah it's green but gifcam weirded it up, i think it's because gifcam internally uses that shade of green as "transparent" for space saving reasons, basically when like you put gifcam over part of your screen and hit record, and all the parts of the screen that DONT change will juts be put in that shade of green in subsequent captured frames up until they change.  and somehow this tetris piece green being similar bonked the color

i got to lvl15 (68k ) and at this speed you are literally one mistake away from game over. no matter if ur fucking area is empty

dang i just totally choked on pacman.  had  4 lives and 45k points (and at  50k of course you get another life)

i did make it to the 50k but in the process i died quickly 4 times in a row and quit :X

and yes you are probably playing tetris more cautiously than me and player instead of going for big moves

oh ya, the new tetris is not so bad. now the main annoying thing is that sometimes i CANT rotate the piece when its touching the wall. Y'kno, i gotta pull it 1 square from the wall and only then it will rotate.

start at lvl 1, why not, accept the free points until you get to the fast levels.  you can easily have nothing on the board when it gets fast if you focus on that, and then youll have like 50k points instead of 0

whats wrong with pause?  it hides everything on the screen so you cant like stop and think... and when you unpause you gotta move right away or you screwed yourself.  i dont think i paused during my top score even once though, i forget.  but mouse over says i played for 14 minutes, players second place score played for 13 minutes.  so yeah i dont tihnk i paused

dont u think i havent tried that many times, but at level13 and above it only takes a few seconds in filling the screen waiting for that stupid 4line orange block and if it delays i gotta start filling with other blocks..

i guess uve been way too lucky with those 4line blocks :P

i duno man, my two scores were literally the first two times i played it, and i played nblox once and also got over 100k

edit: like, i can see that beoing REALLY lucky, but lucky in comparison to, say, Player, wjho has posted comparable scores.  if you cant get a score even close it's something else...

just played the other tetris that has no slow fall and wow i can say its very different gameplay, i like it way more

the way it rotates the blocks its different... ii got to 3800 but had to die it cuz of phone call....
also the area is way bigger, more room up.. more enjoyable experience even without the slowfall

not gonna play that dumb tetris from naeve anymore lol

i remember scoring 200,000 in mspac once..


pacman is about the same, cept that the bananas are 5k in mspac and in pacman are 2k.

in pacman the best fruit is the banana 2k, (or is there a 5k one i dont remember...)


this pacman isnt bad..  feels the same as the arcade one.... its bugs are minimal..

this pacman functions perfectly, but the ghost behavior isnt the same as real pacman.  they come at you way harder

i must admit, im not good.

signed up. played several games (without losing a game)
was ranking up pretty quick thinking i was godlike, reached level13 and was still owning

but
then changed to those maps where u start with garbage around. and saw thats where good players play.
played another several games and got my ass handed down, quickly dropped to level8 :P

my win rate then must've been literally 1 out of 10.
sad but true

i officially retire from playing tetris lol

how come i lose 1 out of 10 games when playing maps with nothing on

but lose 9 out of 10 when playing RANDOM MAPS

i mean, i don't lose by 1 or 2 lines... i get completely analraped, like i do 8 lines and opponent does 36 and shit


but if i play with no garbage blocks,, i rape everyone... i submit around 20 lines and they submit like 6  or 8...

thats why i assumed ppl playing the ones with garbage are more skilled.


its me who want to watch, maybe im missing something... some extra bonus from this tetrisfriends that im unaware of.

just entered a tetris battle 2p (random map w/ garbage)

and a dood sent 28 lines in the first 3 seconds of gameplay. not kidding. not even 4 seconds.

afaik, a 4line tetris gives u 2points, and a 2line tetris gives 1 point, and a 1line tetris gives u zero points.

as for number of lines being sent, you have 3 options here:
1. tetrises (and other obvious clears) - kinda obvious, double sends 1 line, triple sends 2 line, tetris sends 4 lines and back-to-back tetris sends 6 (as far as i remember)
2. t-spins
t-spin sends 4, back to back sends 6, t-spin single sends 2, t-spin mini (whatever that is) sends whatever number lol, no1 does that
3. combos - check out 2-wide, 3-wide or 4-wide strat on youtube, as long as you clear at least 1 line with consecutive pieces, lines being sent get large after a while


i challenge blid and smurf_king to 1v1 arena. Then we could try 1v3 vs mousetopher lol

as for time, i can at this moment but given i havent practice those things i dont even know what they are i rather play other day

but cant give a specific time.... as for tomorrow i may be on and off during the day but cant give a specific time

noo u get a stash for 1 block, y'kno, a pocket. so you can put something in there and there put it out (by putting something else in there). Hotkey is shift.

also damn smurf, you too newbie, i'd instantly own you @ tetrisfriendz. Perhaps you should practice some before the challenge!

i get that a "t spin" is some gay thing like you turn the piece after it lands and it slots into a space.  and someone decided hey we should let players do that.  fine.  but then now theyre giving like bonus lines against other people for doing that AND inventing all this other nonsense that i cant even tell what it would mean from the description of it.  the game owns, why throw in that crap

not only are they allowing it, they're giving you extra pts for it

i checked out tetrisfriends, tspins are worse than i thought.  people are going for tspins as often as they go for tetrises, they've made it not even the same game... i guess you fuck up on purpose so that you can spin a piece in so the game can jerk u off for it

the thing is i wouldnt care that tspins are allowed, but they reward you for them, so that instead of juts being a neat trick to get out of a jam, people are going for them like theyre tetrises.  i always thought the point of the game is to clear lines, not to turn a piece in a funny way.  hmmm tetrinet probably, with weapons turned off?  smurf wanted to play on that alsao

also, i think im dealing with the same thing as you.  after i drop a piece (with space bar) it takes like 1.5 seconds for the next piece to appear.  very slow, odd.
