Okay, so:

- Zeus made a new clan for Brazilians with {BR} tag
- He wants stats transferred to his new account
- He wants some to/intends to make an icon saying "BR" for himself and his clanmates.

cuckolding is more about the wife straying and the dude being a bitch.  some guys may like that or some may just be getting cheated on unwillingly.  swapping is more of just a sleazy thing where people get to fuck people other than their partners

Rofl!!!
Damn well I guess if they fuck their wife's right they won't she won't need a 3 sum lol  deep strokes guys, deep strokes....

...what o_o Just came back to check on this thread, did not expect to see that, lol. Do I even need to read the other four pages?

I don't see why appointing a new admin to help advertise the game, host tournaments or help with any people hosting one, and do things on the server that engage the community is such a taboo idea. Il could continue to program, Mouse can continue working on the site and forum, and blid can continue paying and adding insight, the new person(once someone volunteers) could work to better the server by hosting, playing, and advertising.

Who said it's taboo? I maintain that making such a person an "admin" isn't strictly necessary, it seems like a glorified catchall title more than anything, but I'm not opposed to it either if that's the way it has to be. (That's how it's always been done in the past anyway.)

I do think it should be required that any potential candidate actively demonstrate their intention, availability, and commitment up front before any kind of arbitrary title is awarded. Promoting someone based on a community vote and nothing else in no way guarantees that they'll ever do actually anything and not just bug off after a couple weeks. I mean right? Or am I misunderstanding? It's basically like a company telling an employee "Here's a raise, we expect great things from you" instead of "You've been doing great things the past x months, here's a raise"

It's not a business man, we don't have any more of a vested interest in keeping the server going than you do. We do it because we enjoy the game, it's actually a /burden/ that we willingly undertake because of that fact. Why wouldn't people pitch in if they also enjoy playing, and want the community to thrive? Why is there this sense of entitlement for a completely free service..? And I mean, if someone doesn't have time to work on the server... then they don't have time. How do you not understand that? Do you expect us to quit our jobs to advertise a warcraft 2 server or what?

If you don't want input on what admins should do maybe Il shouldn't ask.

Your input's welcome, isn't mine?

What's wrong with splitting? The whole idea of a forum is to have in-depth discussions, and this is a separate conversation from il's post about the antihack.

Advertising, helping new players, hosting tournies etc. are all great, but those are things everyone can do. Admins have a finite amount of time that they can devote to wc2, same as everyone else, so they tend to do the things that everyone else can't do, like improving the server itself and keeping it running. Paying bills. Administrative stuff. Would you prefer e.g. that iL sat in the channel all day telling new players how to host rather than developing an antihack? Or that I had hosted a bunch of tournaments rather than building and maintaining a modern website?

Another point, the people who actually do the things you suggest tend to get nominated to become admins anyway. Remember when Rit was here for like a month and took a bunch of initiative? Challonge, Google calendar, some other stuff. He was nominated more than once. I personally don't feel like people who do these things need to become "admins" though. Maybe server mods, or "community leaders" or something, based on what they contribute.

Bottom line: wc2 needs volunteers, not finger pointing. Everyone wants to pitch the ideas, no one wants to do the work. And that's understandable, we've all got shit to do.

Ye, I think I agree that the poll should go away. Too difficult to keep track of it in real time, ties our hands too much from making common sense decisions, all we really need is common sense stuff. No hacking, no spoofing, no racism, no spamming.

Naa, he didnt lose anything.  They are just "saying" he did and then giving excuses as to why the Colors and Icons never actually changed.  See, that style I pointed out, it actually denotes GLOBAL moderators (as seen in the SMF Documentation for that particular style as it tells you how to change it in the template files).  Notice that Tupac is BLACK (normal user/moderator of single forums,  if u show it on the Mods forum, Tupac would be blue, but its not shown right now) and iL is RED (Denotes an administrator).  This isnt the only place that "colors" mysteriously "got stuck" either.  Look at the War2 server.  He still listed as admin with the /admins command and he still has the "Blizzard" icon.  At first,  I sort of believed Blid that he tried to de-op Blid in War2.  But now..........  I must say, I am completely unconvinced.  I am still running my bots,  but I swear to god if I catch wind that Burnt is banning people,  participating in administrative processes, etc.  I'll probably blow my top.  I hate being bold face lied to just as much as the next guy in line.  The difference,  I tend to do things about it.  Most wont.  I probably will.  Burnt is cancer.  He needs to be no different than any other player.  Has no business in the "Admin" forum if he's no longer an Admin,  etc etc.  Burnt is the biggest obstacle in iL's way of making real decisions for war2 and he's afraid to remove that obstacle. If I can help remove that,  then that can only be a win for war2.  Not to mention that I lose all motivation to do anything whenever Burnt is tossed into the mix.

Come on man, what kind of idiotic conspiracy shit is this? I thought you had some sense. :P Obviously he was deopped, or you would've been posting that from your Hostbot account. Burnt's the original admin of the english-speaking community and has contributed a ton to it over the years, our unwillingness to instantly and completely kick him to the curb has more to do with respect than "fear", although I'm not surprised that word doesn't seem to be in the vocabulary of wc2's favorite professional naysayers. I mean what's he gonna do, come to our houses and cut us?

He also made a BIG flyers where there like 500 names of all the community, he dint even put my name in it!

Don't feel bad, I never get on those lists either.

1589
edit: but obviously I am all against the bans that took place, especially on the server and I hope some action will be taken. This is the shit we don't really need. I think burnt should end up with a final warning and ~~1 month suspension of his admin powers (next violation = no admin at all), that's a good middleground.

That seems reasonable, but I think we all know it would be a wash. Burnt's just as pissed as Lance is; question his decision (let alone punish him for it) and it's going to be TK all over again. I like Burnt, everyone benefits from his contributions and commitment, and I appreciate the frustration of having to deal with someone you have bad blood with on an ongoing basis, but I do have to side with Lance here. He didn't do anything out of line, he's been in good standing for a long time now, banning him based on a personal grudge is wrong and should be reversed. And aside from being biased, this decision is actively harming the server because the hostbot's down, which he had to know was going to happen. What's really needed is for Burnt to take the high road.

I am NOT angry with you Mousetopher btw.  But you're on the wrong team, so I have no choice but to lump you into the same group as Burnt.  Would you like to fix that problem?  I'd work with you OR iL,  but never with Burnt.  Do you have the nads to cut Burnt out of the equation?

I really like the idea of working on server enhancements in collaborative open source environment, like you talked about here. This would ideally be everyone with programming know-how contributing to one master project, not people splitting off into individual factions. I think it's a pipedream though, since no one trusts/wants to work with anyone else. :P

We all disagree with his methods -- making snap judgements in the heat of the moment isn't a good thing. I don't disagree with banning Ryu and Ganz though. You could say that they "should" have been given some kind of penultimate preban warning, but really, how courteous are we obligated to be to people who are themselves so blatantly discourteous? Our current "rules" are lenient to the point of uselessness, they allow for people to spew infinite amounts of shit and tension just keeps building and building, 'til someone finally had enough and made the common sense decision.

In your case Lance, I wouldn't downplay the fact that you were probably provoking him. If Burnt needs to stop overreacting to ancient history, why can't you just let sleeping dogs lie? Admins aren't ignoring it, just trying to defuse the situation on both sides to avoid losing two valuable players. To be honest, your ultimatum that Burnt be demoted and Burnt's ultimatum that you be banned is just a gigantic pissing contest. You both need to chill out, stop talking shit, leave each other alone and focus on doing what you do.

Ganz doesn't even play so it's irrelevant, you were forgiven and cleansed and ryu? Sure, his forum activity is bullshit, but none of the bans (from the SERVER) was necessary. Meanwhile martin18 (on his bennih account, anyone active would know) still walks free with some games under his belt while rage, unfair bans are happening.

To be fair there's a lot of history here, and that does factor in. I honestly don't know any of the details, but I think everyone agrees that Lance did do some heinous shit back in the day and isn't some misrepresented saint. It sounds more like if USA-archer came back in a couple years, started coding some stuff, and after a while we got into it and I banned him.
