hiya -- the first thing to do is confirm that port forwarding is working correctly on at least 1 pc. once 1 is able to host (no closed port message + other players on server can join normally) then i see no reason why the 2nd local pc wouldn't be able to join through a vpn -- using a vpn both players will have different IPs and the server should have no way of knowing the two connections are related afaik.

so to clarify, at least one of you can host games successfully on your pc & other people can join? and the vpn is being used on the non-hosting pc? but 2nd player from same network gets lat when joining your games, with or without vpn? i think that's what you're saying but just making sure

The problem is more common than you think.

I gave your predicament some thought, and I believe i have found your panacea.

It says it is "multi-purpose" so I imagine it could be used to locate things other than beams, such as misplaced uteri and misplaced sock partners. As far as I can see, this really is exactly what you need.

I was also able to locate what appears to be a travel version.

Sadly, I seem to have misplaced my uterus. I thought it was in the shed next to the lawnmower but when I looked it was gone. I have also checked down the back of the couch and under the fridge, but no luck. Should it turn up some time I will be renting out space on a month-by-month basis, and will post contact details here.
