Title: Serious Questions for Warcraft II Community
Post by: BenJamin on December 12, 2016, 01:13:23 PM
1. What was ToRa doing all this time before he found war2?

2. When was the last time sean/LuX woke up past 7 AM?

3. Why hasn't shotgun fixed his lag problem? Does he like to torture other players this way?

4. Where is igognito from?

5. Does burton intentionally mispronounce xurnt (he says urnt)?

6. Anyone know what YWFN stands for?

7. Does anyone enjoy parding startale when his team is usually losing?

8. Is claw the best all around player on the server?

9. Can anyone beat Viruz in a bo7 standard chess match? Can anyone in the world beat viruz in a bo7 old ef gow and chess game?

10. Where the heck has braviet been?

11. What is spb like in person? Does he just ask for 1s?

Let me answer the one I know :-D

4. Where is igognito from?

I'm Greek! But for now I live in Portugal. I often play from different PCs/locations. I have noticed that when you do /finger for me you can see: GRC (Greece), USA, POR (Portugal).
It is possible that you might also have seen: BEL (Belgium), SWI (Switzerland) and others.
As I have played from several different airports in the world :-D.

From the other questions:

8. Is claw the best all around player on the server?

That we can easily find out!
We should start challenge him at: KOTH bo7
I will probably lose to him, but I'm game if he wants :-D

9. Can anyone beat Viruz in a bo7 standard cheas match? Can anyone in the world beat viruz in a bo7 old ef gow and chess game?

Again there is only one way to find out!
I'm a decent chess player, but ridiculously rusty. Still I would be up in playing chess with him.

Cheers

Ywfn = Your worst fucking nightmare
Spb in person = He hung out with Shotgun and Doug in Vegas so you can ask them
Viruz = Undoubtedly the best in the world in the chess/War2 combo, although you could find a chess pro that could maybe beat him 100% of the time Viruz would be able to return the favor in War2

Ok, my follow up questiom to igognito is why are you traveling so much? It seems like a good way to experience the world.

I'm a post-doc researcher :-D
I travel mainly for presenting my work at conferences or other universities!
I also travel for my holidays! Usually, I visit another country every 2 months for 1-2 weeks.

Cheers

yep. the suprising amount of gow players really suck dickdick at anything else. do you idiots think i play mostly safe power by choice? its because ya'll have rushes, counter rushes, gaying/towering memorized. that's why I aim for the mid-lategame, where the plain skill kicks in. Idiots.

1. Dunno.
2. Dunno
3. Excellent question.. I think it's more conflict than lag

.. moving on to:
7: I'd say maybe someone like van who rides the nuts of top players.
8: I'd say no.. Player is a better all around player imo. And viruz.. Claw just spends a lot of time getting good at maps that no other good people play regularly.
9:frostbitten (not very active) can take viruz in chess. I think viruz rated 1500s chess. Frostbitten is 1800s. But nobody can go bo7 on both.

12. Is it possible to beat a 9/11 dual with a one hall power when the players are close to the same skill? Is there any replays of this?
Title: Re: Serious Questions for Warcraft II Community
Post by: tk[as] on December 12, 2016, 08:29:52 PM
12. No way to give a "definite" answer.. but if both players are at same skill, the dualer should win.

Obviously the luster might get lucky and run in the bottom of 9 when 9's ogres are gone or w/e .. but the dualer should win.

ruz dominated any custom I ever saw him play... archers most notably.  He just doesn't play them primarily, so few know how good he is at them.
Title: Re: Serious Questions for Warcraft II Community
Post by: I hate naggers on December 13, 2016, 08:09:35 AM
the more map resembles BNE, the better he is at them, probably. Means he sucks ass at all kinds of chop, but he's good at 3v3arena.
Archers don't resemble gow very much, but it's a very simple map. BGH is a lil bit more complex. Still though, viruz thinks hes god at archers because he managed to beat arrow

I've always beat viruz in all of our koth series for over a decade.

As for you, you are very good at some customs, but have made no noise on the vast majority? Or maybe I am wrong?

This has me thinking, how many different types / subcommunities are there in customs? BGHers, Pballers, Choppers, etc. I remember on BNE there seemed to be groups that just played like LA or Water Knights, etc or 62 peons, GW and it goes on and on
Title: Re: Serious Questions for Warcraft II Community
Post by: I hate naggers on December 13, 2016, 10:36:11 AM
i only play customs that are being hosted/played. Meaning less and less... as of right now, only chop stays relevant. some maps like archers or 3v3arena semi-relevant. others are dead. no point in playing dead maps. thats also the reason why i hardly play. sometimes its not so easy to get a shitty 1v1 gow going, best time to play is at tournament hours
Title: Re: Serious Questions for Warcraft II Community

Ripe, that's not true but I don't care to get into it either.

I am sorry if it upsets you that the amount of people who consider me the best is more than any other amount that thinks any other one player is the best, and by a large margin. I'm not being facetious either. I share your same concern. I hacked like crazy on calveries for a few months about 13 years ago and that won't change. I don't blame you or anyone for holding that against me. In fact, I think everyone should at least to some degree. I totally regret it and admit it was wrong, and wish I hadn't done it.

I don't care about being considered #1 anymore either. Yeah,  I do think I can legitly beat any player who ever played the game on any built-in setting short of maybe NWTR and a few other maps, but I don't take some unreal amount of pride in it or look to rub it in everyone's face. And I also don't want credit or acknolwedgent. I'm just here talking about customs, and how viruz, who is ridiculously good at old/ef has never given reason to suggest that he is anywhere near the same force on other maps as the one he is on old/ef.

I'm just old now and don't want an argument, and we shouldn't need to have any as I already said I respect your opinion in thinking I am not to be nominated for #1.

fine.

i cant b assed to argue. however im amazed that u post so much and so quick answers if "u dont care"
however. let it b.
ur not the #1 period

neither is viruz. i agree  with u, he really isnt that special what ive seen in sea maps and any other puds. @ oldgow he is great. i once witnessed him beating some1 pro(i dont remember who now) from 4 with quick power lust vs 9-11 untouched dual lust. it was a great show and made the other one look like a clown with his dual. :)

Ok what games did you play before warcraft II? And why did it take so long to find this game?

I used to play warcraft 2 on battlenet east in 2000-2002. Back then all I played was Free castles.
After which I played playstation and Xbox until 2008-2009. I found gaming systems like those to be an unnecessary distraction so I stopped playing them and starting reading a lot of books.
I had a brief stint with warcraft 2 in 2009 but I didn't like the community and I got banned cause I said something bad to an admin and bsed him in the middle of the game.

I've read every single John Grisham, David Baldacci, James Patterson, and a few other fiction novelists. I've found writers are increasing only writing books that appeal to a female audience which is why I've lost a lot of interest for them over the years.

I started playing chess in 2010-2012 and I used to watch a lot of chess strategies on youtube. It was in 2014 I stumbled upon one of frostbitten's commentary video's.(I believe it was ~poscow vs Viruz)
Before I knew it I watched all of frostbitten's, Burnts, and tk's videos.

I then installed Warcraft 2 and started playing on the server.
The rest is history.

You are both really good at archers, claw with his speed and you with your unit control.

my unit control is better than swifts'. Besides, if he's not able to kill me early, i just shit on him lategame

i was actually thinking i have to kill him early or else me dead, but apparently its the other way around

edit: and by unit control, i mean controlling 30+ archers. swift would probably be better at some 8 archer vs 8 archer battles, but these do not happen often enough

I am far better at other customs, but yeah I'm alright at Archers. I haven't played enough "great" Archers players to be able to get truly good at it.

Speed > micro anyday on archers - it's a clickfest map with very few war2 skills being transferable to it

You have me confused with someone else. I don't ever make a cat at 6.  I wonder if the times you thought you saw me do that was also from another smurf you think I am.

Not sure if you are just trying to save face over your original reasoning or not but I don't do cat strats from 6 ever. Only reason I can think of to make a cat is if I failed to stop a gay in a 3v3 or 4v4. In that case, I still wouldn't have been initially set up to do so and it would be a clear reaction rather than premeditated choice.  Anyway, long story longer... I'm not sage lol

at least we can both agree that it's not uncommon for you to turtle with a cat inside of 6.
