Title: [done] Please help lance or iL
Post by: Yamon on March 12, 2016, 05:25:38 PM
i forwarded moregravy's ports correctly, and even checked if they're open with port checker and they are. but every time he hosts its high lat and it says that a NEW port needs to be forwarded almost in an endless cycle. the problem isn't on his end i'm like 99% sure. please respond back asap.

no one cares about the tech team. you're going to have to fix 1000 more hosting issues to come close to what i've done

This sounds like symmetrical NAT by verizon.  Its not possible to host with a symmetrical nat.  It will indeed give a different port every time you reconnect to the server.  If you are lucky enough, it will eventually select 6112 and you'll be able to host..... until you log off.  But good luck with that,  it selects from between 1000-10000 from what I've experienced.  And even if you open the correct port, it still wouldnt work because War2 is trying to use whatever port is in the registry (usually 6112).  You can change the port that war2 uses in the registry......... but it requires you to restart war2.  And guess what happens when you do that?  Yea,  symmetrical nat changes the port on you again since it's a new network connection.  It's retarded,  difficult to diagnose when the "note" user isnt working but it is common with Verizon and who knows what other ISP's.  Either his ISP has changed since he was last able to host, or they have since changed to a symmetrical nat which royally fucks up not only War2, but many many other client side games that cannot switch ports on the fly.  I would suggest changing ISP's to something like Timewarner Cable, or some cable company.  Stay away from telco providers,  they are usually the ones that have stupid shit set up such as symmetrical nat.  And asking if an ISP has symmetrical nat or not will generally get you a blank stare.  The reps will have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.  The only way to know really is to switch and try it yourself.
