how do u add personalized tag (icon) to your name

They're assigned by admins. Certain tags are awarded for winning tournaments, having X number of wins and some other stuff I think.

Yes. Simply log on to server.war2.me and custom icons will rain down upon thee like manna from heaven.

Custom tags will probably happen soon. I should probably log onto Linux and brush up on the procedure for adding them.

could this be made in an automated fashion tho?
not the custom tags but some pre-defined according to players win losses ..
like replace those current icon with 1,2 and 3 swords with like NOOB,average,pro or some shit :P
or maybe add like if a player has a 1:100 disconnect ratio. put DISCONNECTOR on tag (*cough* van, lol)

Direct access is not the main problem in that question.
I don't pay much attention to icons, i have no much time for that, but that problem is resolvable easily.
If someone (admin?) give me icons.bni file to replace, i'll upload it as soon as i get it.
If someone (admin?) ask me about an access to bnet directory, i'll try to do something.
Yes, i have no time to work on icons, but don't think i'm the one who slow that down. I'm ready to assist an icons job when anyone else will do another part of that job.

When I see the icons made I will put extra time in this month to work on my host bot, and anti hack. That's my promise to you il and all admins. I will put in more of my free time to work on my projects if you guys get the icons done.

that would be VERY awesome. once you get to work on these, some1 shuold start making an inspirational video about w2 and server.war2.ru, which should be a part of advertisements. i'm thinking koorbs vid, but with server features included (u guys remember koorbs vid, right?)

also I know icons are percieved as an useless gimmick by some (me included), but seeing all the discussions and plans here, maybe a lot of people actually care about them. And in the end the user perception is all that matters. If it's a thing which may result in them playing instead of leaving, or participating in a tournament, it's more than just a 24x16 pixel shitty-ass picture

i really think everyone should deserve a custom icon
with a few restrictions.
- only 1 icon, period, no multiple icons on multiple akas, or the same icon on multiple akas.
just ONE icon on ONE aka.
- user must be either 2 years old playing ru or reach a certain amount of wins, (500? 1000?)
(aka not necesarily be installed on the aka with the wins)
- icon must be designed and submitted by user
- icon transfer aka to another aka only once a year. (to avoid further hassle to icon admin)
- alloewd icon change maybe every 6months?
- caught hackers = no more icons until further notice.
i mean why the hell not?
war2 ru lives because of the players commited and actual play. its like a small aesthetic gift. and its in our hands to give it.

That sounds like a nice idea, but the glaring drawback of user-submitted icons is that you're going to end up with some seriously fugly icons.

sigh, thats a lot of work for what will end up being a stupid feature. The purpose of tournament icons is to encourage players in participation, the purpose of "XXXX wins" icons is to encourage players to play more... but this? eh.
