Hey all the next Gow tournament will be Saturday October 24th, 4pm Eastern time in the tournament channel.
(I know I said these tournament will be held the last Sat of every month, but the last Saturday of Oct will be Halloween. So I believe it prudent to host it one week earlier this month.
Once again payout will be as followed,
4th will receive 10 dollars
3rd will receive 20 dollars
2nd will receive 30 dollars
1st will receive 40 dollars and will receive a master icon which they must defend next month.
As a note all players must have paypal in order to receive their cash prizes
I am going to assume that the same players from last month are going to play this month.(I know thats a big assumption.)
So here is the bracket for next tourney.(I am more than open to suggestions.)
This bracket is subject to change at any time before the tourney due to player conflicts, unforeseen circumstances, etc.
Also I realize we will probably get more players so if need be I will make more brackets as we go along.

Just a suggestion. Maybe you can set the seeds up by ladder rank? Would make the tournament easier to set up imo.

Hey guys im debating changing the payouts to this tourney to 70/30 for finalists.
And maybe ill just give 15 for 3rd and scratch the 4th place prize.

I think it's probably a good idea Tora. Paying 4 would be nice with a tournament with a pretty big prize. While $100 is definitely nice 1st place is by far the hardest spot to make and should get a good prize for making it out of the $100 in my opinion. Paying more places is definitely cool but finals being paid is a great way to do a tournament. Paying 4 is nice in a very large tournament with a big prize pool or a big prize pool tournament, but even paying 1 out of 2 of the semi finals so 3rd is good enough its an accomplishment, but the real accomplishment is the finals and winner.

I definitely think it's better as it is. It's a monthly money tournament, which is already quite a gift to the top players. Therefore there's no way they should think they "deserve" more money for winning. Meanwhile, the more players who receive a share of the prize, the more reason there is for additional people to sign up.

The reason I was debating changing it a bit was cause maybe then we would be able to bring back some old players that are having a hetius at the moment

The finals should be a PBall map. That way all the PBall players will learn GOW just so they can wreck Gow players in the finals. LMAO. BTW this is just a joke, but it is an amusing thought to think a pball player could even make it to the finals :) Kinda like carrot and stick, except the carrot is nothing more than a hologram, never obtainable, like getting to the finals hahah. Ya I crack me up :) Then after that we can do it in reverse, pball maps with gow as the finals. Then we can watch as all the pballers whine and cry as gow player stomp them to get to the gow map finals hahaha. Such a jokester I am lol. Call them the "Crossroads" tourneys and even include the crossroads map lmao.

Wouldn't actually mind seeing pball players and gow players having a tourney between each other.
We could do a bo3 gow then a bo3 pball.
Then a map of my choosing, if there is a tie breaker.
Of course I would compensate the winners, so let me know if any pballers or gow players are interested.

i honestly don't like anything you've decided on tora. but my request is GOW TE instead of GoW classic since it's a tournament and getting spot fucked has reguarily been hindering people from winning

Lol Blid did you really say earlier that the person who wins the tournament doesn't deserve more money? So the person who gets 4th some guy who is just mediocre deserves a cut vs the guy who played like a pro and took it all? I don't follow the logic, I agree paying more places can help get more people but saying the top player has no expectation of wanting a good payout for their time and skill is wrong. Also you quoted deserve where did I or anyone say deserve. It only makes sense you put your time in a tournament and win it that is the true accomplishment not that guy that gets 4th. I'm fine with 4 paying but 3 paying really makes more sense to me. Also most competitions award 3 places for example Gold, Silver, and Bronze in the Olympics.

this is absolutely terrible, and i'll explain why. Every player worth something plays Garden of War. And garden of war only. Since you're not a part of the community i will elaborate on this contraversail issue. GoW is considered to be like chess, we play the same map over and over again to hone our skills in every single subgenre possible, from tactics, to strategy, to mechanics, to economy mangaement, to timing, and everything included in warcraft 2 plays a vital role in a 1v1 GoW game. In other maps not all of these elements are present, due to low gold, or totally unfair spots, it's entirely less competitive. And the lack of competitiveness is why people play regular maps instead of custom maps. It's all about skill. So introducing any other map than gow, will do nothing but give the lesser player an ability to pull a fluke victory. And introducing totallly new maps will make it a joke.

Yamon you're mostly just talking out of your ass. GOW is the most played BNE this is true. That GOW takes some special skill other BNE's don't that makes it superior to ALL others is just bullshit. Resource management and every aspect of GOW is on all BNE's. Changing terrain just means you need to adapt and takes additional skill. Also there are 100's of Warcraft 2 BNE maps to say all of them have unbalanced spots is just totally bullshit. Also you're really going to make the chess argument again... Lmao the last person that made the argument GOW was as complex as chess got laughed at by multiple people. They are totally unique skills chess and GOW and chess takes far more skill and logic.

i just told you, i said i was offering free lessons after no one wanted to pay for it, and even then, obviously whoever is paying me is going to get better lessons anyway, because it is within my self interest to provide better training to receive pay. common sense. anyone over 10+ years would understand that. The quality of your teaching depending on pay has to do with your character and self not how much you get paid. You can teach someone the same level with or without pay it's whether you decide to do it. You taught people for free for years FACT, you offered to teach people for free after Tora FACT, the only person I have seen you try to get cash for it from was Tora FACT. You're just making up excuses that you were trying to find other people to pay you now that I called you out. Call it conning call it whatever you want, but you saw that Tora has been generous with his money and you wanted to try to get some of it. Conning, persuading with a plan, whatever if truth be known you just knew Tora has spent money on Warcraft 2 and you wanted some. Make up all the stories you want that is what is real.

you're ridiculous. i have myself offering lessons for money recorded. so your argument is invalid. my dad told me i do too much stuff for people for free and that i should start charging, that's why i began to charge for training. That combined with the fact i was, am frequently #1 on ladder there is no room for someone to argue that paying for my teaching wouldn't be worth it. And it's not like you know the details of my teaching either. My last apprentice has given me tons of money.

I won't disagree with the argument that GoW is like chess and everyone plays it to hone their skills.
However your missing the whole point behind these tournaments.
The reason why I am hosting these tournaments is to improve user turnout, and get more people playing war 2 again.
And the vast majority of players on the server are requesting some variety to garden of war.
Round 1 will be Gow which will basically weed out all the players that are not up par.
The rest of the rounds will be testing your skills at different maps and different settings.
Please keep in mind of course somebody can get spot fucked. Or somebody can get a bad draw and face the wrong person.
But that's part of what keeps the tournaments fun.
And winning one of these tournaments doesn't necessarily mean your the best.

So Ryu sends me a message about 2 weeks ago asking Archer be banned from my tournaments. Says he is going to make a post about so I told him I'd see how the post about it went. He freaked out started calling me a traitor to the server. So i eventually emailed Archer asking him not to play and he responded what I told Ryu that he would anyway on an AKA. Ryu freaked out called me a terrible friend, said I was a traitor and was "harboring" a cyber criminal and enemy of the server LMAO. Throughout our correspondence I made it clear Archer was an idiot for what he's done and I wanted to resolve it. Basically Ryu just went all emo and started raging at people that had nothing to do with Archer, because Archer took over channel evil lmao.

easily the two most gimmicky games i've played against viet in the semi-finals. One game i got 6 and he just powered. e z win for him. second game i tried a tactic on him that's been working for like 10 games and he saved the counter for the tournament like a huge asshole. i think semi-finals should be bo5 next month.

Also Tora, Yamon wasn't talking to me. I only commented on the prizes up to the point where he posted his ranting why it should be an only GOW tournament. It was after that I said he was full of it. Either way though he must be retarded to think you or I either are not part of the community. If he means you you've hosted these tournaments and put up $100's for the community and play GOW. If he means me I help with your GOW tournaments, made the brackets in one, and advertise them, I also played BNEs for years long ago. I also host other cash Warcraft 2 tournaments. It's exactly the ungrateful attitude you were talking about Tora. Yamon is a mediocre at best GOW player and has put 0 money toward this game, hosted 0 tournaments, and advertised NONE. Yet he's going to say you or I(claiming me) is not part of the community whether he means Warcraft 2 or GOW, both of us have done far more for the GOW and the Warcraft 2 community than him.

No. That's cause the correct settings for garden of war.pud are high resources , forest , 1 peon only , even faster speed, SINCE EVER.
Crying and blaming map for tricky positions isn't the right mentality to get good in this game. That also explains why 80% of ppl who plays since '95 havent still learnt basics.
You should just focus more to refine your strategies and exploit your position to improve your gameplay instead of posting such silly threads.

i think i remember TE being used in some of Pimster's later tournaments. i definitely remember it on east at least. it's hardly different. i think just some path tweaks at 6 and 8 and some tree tweaks at 4 and 11 right?

i didnt think 11 got changed in TE (maybe it did) ... i recently looked it and noticed a 8 has room to make hall, 6 path tweaked, and a little bit of wood missing by 4's gold mine.
i thought i looked @ 11 and didnt notice anything. maybe im wrong
