« on: January 25, 2020, 11:55:46 AM »

ok. i'll add 2 more options. 1) No admins at all. 2) Neither burnt, warbux, or tk.

Make another one "ANYONE EXCEPT TK" then I'll vote in your stupid poll.

Just stfu. Nobody wants to hear your drivel. It's the reason I hardly even read this forum any more. Stop trying to deflect the subject onto van. You are the worst admin this server has ever had by 10x

Tk abused his position and we don't need him as a admin

Yep. tk just went on a massive ego trip and started constantly arguing with everyone as if being an admin suddenly made his garbage opinions worth something. Low IQ + big mouth. Good riddance.

Not only a questions of hotkeys, player are not suppose to acces the mpq and modify the game like that, it make no sens at all.

Thats all.

You are barking up the wrong tree.

War2Combat ... the RU version ... and this server exist because of MPQ edits. That's how they made a 40MB version for people to download.

It's only since internet bandwidth became much cheaper and faster that iL added a lot of things back in (campaigns etc) and made the full CE version.

The MPQs contain mostly graphics and sound, but also some other resources. The plugin framework and any serious mods/hacks that change gameplay work on the exe file.

MoPaQ

MPQ is a Blizzard proprietary cabinet format. It's short for MoPaQ. The "MO" is the author's initials, it was originally conceived by a guy named Mike O'Brien, and "paq" is just "pack". An mpq is like an archive that can contain hundreds of different files, compressed and organised into an internal directory structure.... kind of like ZIP file containing a whole bunch of different files and folders, except mpq's also have another key feature which is a quite sophisticated hashed indexing system that allows for extremely fast lookup and location and retrieval of an individual resource in a large archive.

All the game data and resources initially existed in war2dat.mpq, but IIRC the system is set up so that entries with the same name/internal path in war2patch.mpq will override the default files in war2dat.mpq, in this way blizzard could release various patches and upgrades, just by adding them to the much smaller war2patch.mpq instead  of having to reproduce and distribute the entire wad of resources for most of the game that is war2dat.mpq.

Despite being a proprietary format that has never been technically available to the public, quite a number of MPQ readers/editor have been written by third parties over the years (generally gaming enthusiasts), however Blizzard continued to use MoPaQ for many years after WC2, and they also altered and updated the specs for the the internal file structure many times along the way. Certainly WC2, SC1, WC3, D2,D3,WoW and I'm pretty sure also SC2 all use various versions of MoPaQ, and they all have the same ".mpq" file extension.

As a result many if not all of the 3rd party MoPaQ tools tend to only work with a small subset of MoPaQ versions and therefore you need to have the right editor to open the mpq files from any particular Blizzard game. So in the case of WC2, an old one... at least that's the way it used to be, I don't know if anyone has written a more comprehensive mpq editor recently, at any rate EasyCompany is the guy to talk to about that stuff, he's much more clued up about it than me... I'm a bit of a code monkey, when I'm messing round with graphics resources it's because I've pulled them out of process memory, not the mpq files.

BTW: I think it was only last year or the year before Blizzard finally introduced its new container format, the successor to MoPaQ. Was big news for nerdy folk like me.... lol.

seems to be the biggest fire of all time.  fires have always happened in california too but those are also worse than ever in recent years.  fires can be a thing that have always happened and yet also getting worse

Yeah it's definitely a bad year. Back-burning is the key.

Its actually a human problem that makes for really bad fires. It's because we go around putting them out. This lets the undergrowth build up to unnaturally high levels then when there's all that fuel and you have a hot dry summer there are bad fires.

The most intense fires are always in areas that haven't burnt in too many years.

As for the worst, how do you measure that? I vividly remember the Ash Wednesday Bushfires. I can still picture the massive wall of smoke I could see riding my bike home from school. It looked like a thunderstorm but it was the wrong color and in the wrong place.

75 people died that day. Choked or burned to death. 12 of the CFA volunteer firefighters who died were from our local fire brigade. They burned. The front changed so fast they had nowhere to go. Some of them were in the open, a couple of them tried to shelter under their truck. They would have known they were dead, but I guess it's just instinct to try to get away. There was only charred remains left.

I was 12 years old. They will always stick in my memory as being pretty bad, but if you are going by human lives then the Black Saturday Fires were worse. 173 people died that day, including probably the most well known TV news anchor in Victoria who burned in his home. That was pretty bad.

Are the current fires worse? I certainly hope not. They are a part of life here, but they are horrible, horrible things. Certainly they are now much better publicised. All of a sudden the whole world wants to use them to push their own agendas or ghoulishly fantasize about the ridiculously color-enhanced satellite images, but really they should all send donations to the Country Fire Authority or just fuck off and push their barrows elsewhere :blank:

Australia burns all the time. Its normal. There are trees here that can't reproduce until they are burnt. This year its a pretty serious fire season, but it happens.
yes... half a billion dead animals, fires as high as 20 storey buildings, fires going on for MONTHS now,  just normal things. probably nothing to do with worsening global warming. hundreds of millions of animals perish in the span of a few months all the time, normally.

lol yes it is totally normal to have bushfires this time of year. I'm not "pro fire" or anything, but it is an extensively studied fact that fires are a part of the ecosystem here. How else would trees evolve that can only reproduce when they are burnt?

Yes it is sad that some wildlife dies, but that doesnt mean it isn't normal and natural.

Haven't heard about the camels, sounds like bullshit to me, but regardless feral camels are an introduced species that competes with the native fauna, why aren't you crying for them?

Dude I'm committed to the environment and stopping global warming is extremely important, but you can't just declare whatever seems to fit your narrative to be a fact. That's very un-scientific.

I've lived here my whole life and almost every year this happens, just because the twittersphere has decided they like the click-bait pics doesn't mean you have the first clue about Australian ecology.

Go measure the rate that glaciers are melting. That is REAL.... but oh that's not good click-bait any more? We really like the whole armageddan feel of these fire pics... and ratings go up every time we show them! REPENT! REPENT! Get a grip and please don't make me laugh.

yeah i wouldnt send the $ to burnt. tora has always been responsbile with these matters as far as i know

im going to contribute whatever i have to, but it just kinda sprung up and wasnt in my budget. 2 weeks shouldnt be too long i dont think

I dont even know who won, wasn't paying attention. Just logged in here and saw harry's post (and only skimmed that really). If burt was hosting then I'm happy to trust him with it, I have never had any reason not to trust him. Even if he did get pretty upset a while back he's always been an honest guy afaik. He's already PM'ed me saying I shouldn't have to pay for anyone elses debt, but I still will if this doesn't get sorted out. Yeah I'd trust tora with tourney money too, but that's not the point.

... and damn mate, if you're an electrician who needs 2 weeks to come up with $60 you should be running those fb ads for your own business and playing less computer games ;)

Equinox your ass better pay me the $200 you promised to host the tournament for you.

EQ isn’t going to payout for this tournament.

Can u split the remaining $190 with me and tk?

Nobody here can come up with $63.30?

What a sad story. I was literally homeless a couple of years ago, but I'll kick in $100 just to point out what a dick bag full of losers yall are.

PM me your paypal burnt. I'll trust you to sort it out.

I did watch a bit of that, not all of it I admit. When you are talking about scouting patterns and completely ignore the fact that your first 2 grunts are attacking his first scout grunt, thereby giving even a noob like me a fairly good guess at where you are then your analysis is flawed. I think eq is a bit frustrated. Hell I just got pwnt by ragner half an hour ago so I can understand.

x = tan-1(6/15) ;)

Ragner kicked your ass. Take it like a man. Hack-accusing is beneath you eq, you're better than that.

So the GUI interface that they stole from Xerox, and all Windows GUI were based of the Xerox prototype?

Oh...

First place I saw a GUI type file manager was an old Apple. Xerox did it too or first or something? Ok. hf reading that wikipedia page ;)

GUIs are great. Soon as Linux releases with GNOME etc became readily available, all of a sudden half the world was became an overnight Linux "expert".

There's a few different companies experimenting with VR/AR right now.... but when they make a decent AR GUI we will all know they stole the idea from the Wachowski brothers right?
