Oh god, now the "Last WC2 server in the world" thing is even more incorrect..

And yes, changing game data port will do it. I run a server on my home network and that setup works for me. There used to be a ton of pvpgn documentation on belios.de (in English) but the site got redesigned 1.5-2 years ago and apparently all that got axed. You might be able to dig it up with the wayback machinee maybe. There's also a pvpgn wikia here that can be useful to reference.

Cool, that plus the challonge plugin for WordPress could be cool. I'll have to take a look at it to see how it works & what the best way to embed in the site will be.

What features does this have that makes it superior to the turnier thing?

Lots of interest in Warcraft 2 lately c: That's only a good thing. Grosshandlaren, I think we all approve of and support your project! Looks like that makes 3 WC sites on Genesis and counting. :D

We're also planning to translate our website http://en.war2.ru sometime in the future, so if you have time and are willing to help with the Swedish translation (e.g. se.war2.ru) that could be a big help.

It's slated. Support section's going to be restructured to feature all of that with a more logical & easy to use layout. Lot of stuff to do still, it just takes time.

We talking stream-wise only? You guys have bars when you play too?

Strategy & Replays / 16:9 stream vs 4:3
« on: March 31, 2015, 03:03:21 PM »
WC2 default aspect ratio is 4:3 but Twitch/YouTube video players are 16:9 so WC2 replays always have black bars on either side of the video, like so:

I was messing around with obs today and discovered how to stream at 16:9

That's what I see when playing, I don't mind it being stretched, how does it work as a replay though? Better than black bars?

Hmm, okay, it's helpful to get user feedback like that. My reasoning is that the home page's primary function is to show new visitor's what the site has to offer -- if they're specifically looking for a WC2 download they have the immediate above-fold "Download Now" button. If they want to find out more about the site they scroll down, read about the server, see screenshots, see all the blurbs with the game/community features. After reading through that they hopefully become reassured that the site's legit and are interested in joining, so when they see the second button ("Getting Started") they're ready to proceed.

Directing a new visitor to supplemental things like screenshot uploads, bot info, etc. seems pointless because they don't have the game yet so they can't really use them, and it creates more choices for them to make, decreasing the odds they'll make the one we want them to (downloading the client & playing on the server). Plus, I don't see repeat visitors scrolling through several sections of content to get to those links when they're all available in the menu at the top of the page.

Could shift the second button up below the server description though, so we get that second CTA in before giving them the additional options to browse, and then try to tie each of those pages back to the download page with a "Click here to download war2combat" button or something.

Not arguing that it wouldn't be cool, but huge amounts of time & work for pure eye candy. If anyone has the time and wants to do it, or wants to fork over some cash to hire a SMF theme designer, then feel free!

I used to have the same problem with freezing years ago on some crappy old XP computer. (The freezing on alt+tab thing sounds familiar, it might've done that or that + freezing in game, hard to remember.) I always thought it was XP-specific because XP would lock up like that from time to time anyway, and I never had the problem on Win7. Clearly not though, so some common denominator between the two like a driver is more likely. Data gathering is probably all you can do right now for such a generalized issue.

What version of 7 are you guys using btw? Pro, home, ultimate? Not sure if that makes a difference. I use ultimate & never freeze.

Well that was my point, task the users who want different themes with going out & researching/finding suitable themes + take a vote on which ONE theme to install = less repetitive work for us. We have very few forum members, and even fewer who have expressed an interest in alternate forum themes, I just don't see the value of us going to the trouble of finding & installing multiple themes, modding each of those themes for compatibility, and having to sync all future mods to all those themes just to give a handful of people the illusion of meaningless choice. One light theme + one dark theme seems practical & reasonable.

Hell, maybe make it even simpler and just pick a dark version of Curve?
