The real deal, not the imposter Canals.pud infringing on the naming rights.

Note that each starting spot is very easily walled in to protect from land attacks. However note also that thanks to the titular canals, ships can easily sail under your space and attack parts of your town including the wall-in itself. Ships are able to approach slightly closer on the right side to offset the fact that the right side can wall in and pop grunts and other units out.
If you have an unofficial version of Canals I suggest you rename it when you save this to your maps folder, otherwise you may overwrite it, although that also is fine.

The first time on record for the fake Canals is when you uploaded it earlier this year, long after my Canals was widely distributed.

That's from September 2015. But in fact at that point my original (real) Canals had already been around for years. Who even knows when it was first created? 2009? 1995? I don't even remember, because it's just that ancient.
But if Nedro or this alleged "MugWump" is able to produce any evidence the fake Canals existed before that September 2015 post then I welcome that. And no, editing your computer time and saving a map in "1997" doesn't count. :P

Anyone can pretend to be someone called Mugwump; anyone can set their computer time back to 1997 and then save a file. Big deal.
Are you claiming to be Mugwump? If not, what's the problem? I released this map years ago. You released someone else's map with the same name in 2017. That map is fake and mine is legit.

All I'm saying Nedro is that I made Canals.pud first. I've got nothing against MugWump or Bill Wright or you. I'm just saying my map was first and you guys came out with your map second.
