Title: trying to battle a friend on the same wireless network, cant get past latency!
Post by: mattb3nich on December 09, 2014, 12:57:15 AM
Hey guys,

i cant seems to get two computers to connect over the sever. I can create the game and see it on either computer, but cant join it. I have tried to clear the ports on my router but i still cant get it to work?

Any Ideas?

Make sure u do both TCP and UDP 6112 to 6119

You should make different data ports for 2 your computers with different DataPorts. Also you have to write 2 different forwarding rules for each computer.
Default DataPort is 6112. You can use it on 1 of computers.
You should write different on the 2-nd and type in the registry:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Battle.net\Configuration]
"Game Data Port"=your_different_port

this, but its pretty technical. Hopefully youre not a newbie at computers

Can anyone (CLAW?) make detailed instruction (with pictures) for ordinary people? We will put it somewhere on visible place.

Also, port forwarding instruction for 6112 port for 1 computer.
Need to do that twice: for each computer and different ports: http://server.war2.ru/support/warcraft-ii-hosting-latency-fix/ (http://server.war2.ru/support/warcraft-ii-hosting-latency-fix/)

Not necessarily...one portforward with correct static ipaddress will do it. That is if they are both connected to the same network.

Ignore everyone here except for iL.  He is correct,  change the dataport and everything will work great for playing with someone on the same network.

or you could just use the gamebot to host the game and then you both join it.

It would be better if we can get everyone up to hosting speed...rather than them having to rely on a third party bot to do so...

No, they would drop each other (conflict) that way. And if they didn't, the entire game would drop as soon as the bot left.

Just export the reg file and upload it so all he has to do is double click it.

Leave it to Ganz to point out a 2 second fix :P  lmao  But still, nice work on the SS's Claw even though it was probably not necessary since Ganz is right ;)  Not to mention you can edit the resulting export with notepad which is easier to use and understand than regedit.
