Title: Server moved to new hosting
Post by: iL on March 03, 2016, 07:17:30 AM
Well, i changed DNS record for server.war2.ru
Should be applied in a few hours for everybody.

If you try to join and see almost empty old server, just join backup.
Your DNS record will be updated to new server.war2.ru in a few hours.

New server location: ISP: Linode, city: Newark.

Also server software is updated there.

Newark is a city in New Jersey, not a state btw ;)  This location move has been needed for many years.  Its nice to have a decent ping to the server itself for once lol.

True,  but over 50% of the gaming population in the world is from the US because we have the laziest teen population on the planet.  War2 is no exception to that rule ;)  Over 50% of the population of war2 is and has always been from the US.  The rest of the world makes up the other 40-50%.

http://analytics.war2.co (http://analytics.war2.co) scrapes countries from http://server.war2.ru/status (http://server.war2.ru/status)

Its showing 60% of players are from US + Canada, only about 20% from European countries including Russia, Germany, GB, Sweden, Poland, Spain etc

So the majority of the players will benefit from the move to the US. Thanks iL

Oh snap, real war2 analytics

Yes, analytics looks good.

And as soon as i moved the server moved to new hosting, we got a DoS attack again, this thread: http://forum.war2.ru/index.php/topic,1998.0.html (http://forum.war2.ru/index.php/topic,1998.0.html)
Archer, you will say that's not you, just a coincidence.
But the problem is you appear with useful ideas, then something happens with server.

DDoS attacks never happened before Archer appeared here, and now these attacks happens permanently. Previous server have been working good only because of strong DDoS protection, but attacks never stopped.

New server goes under attack right after it have been powered on.
Archer is network security expert who knows everything about security attacks. Of course it's coinsidence.
DDoS attacks began right after Archer appeared here in our community with his ideas, never happened before, of course it's coinsidence.

I don't want such coincidenses happen, that's why i don't want Archer here, though his projects could be useful.

How high are you iL? Lol..[emoji23]

Wouldn't call him an expert just because he exploited vulnerable code and caused a few server interruptions. My 10 year old cousin could do most of crap he has done [emoji1]
