As far as the energy consumption with bitcoin transactions.. That's currently in the works. Its a new technology that will become more efficient over time

It would be interesting to know the true energy consumption of swiping your credit card.. All the electricity to run the machines, power the facilities, gasoline consumed by the banking employees etc..

i dont think it will.  at least with "mining" it's designed to become an increasingly difficult process to limit the bitcoin supply, meaning it will take more and more energy to incrementally add more bitcoin to the ecosystem

Also.. Moore's law. Processing power doubles every 2 years. It's been pretty accurate up to this point, and now we're entering the age of Quantum Computers.

This will play a factor in the amount of energy needed to mine 1 bitcoin.

the real question is: HAS ANYONE SEEN SMURF KING LATELY?

haha, remember he told everyone put their life savings in 5 years ago and we all thought he was crazy. probably smurfking is living in the virgin islands on a 100ft catamaran yatch. :)

Apparently, ASICS will still be faster than quantum computers for mining bitcoin for the next 10 years.  Also, Moore's law hasn't really held true for a while now because you can only shrink transistors so much.  Intel has only had 5-15% ipc improvements generation to generation for roughly the past 8 years.
