Strategy & Replays / 4 Jugg Rush - Cook book
« on: March 26, 2023, 11:51:15 PM »

This is a way to get juggs and battleships very quickly on Water maps - it's an old strat (what was called "cookbook".
Note: This works best on REAL water maps like FOC - it can work on HSC (but I would modify based on your situation).

1.) Town Hall
2.) Farm
3.) Mill - repair the mill with two peons.
4.) When the mill finishes, build Ship Yard #1 - repair the shipyard with 1 or 2 peons.
5.) After the shipyard finishes, build Foundry and Second shipyard.
6. At some point you'll want a second farm, but you don't want to go over 6 peons - just yet (need room for ships).

Resource management: I usually put 3 peons on gold and 3 peons on wood (keep an eye on your resources and make sure you have enough for the ships.

7. Build jugg/ship #1 and #2.
8. Build jugg/ship #3 and 4.

At this point you'll want to cheat a 7th peon; build another farm when you can.

Strategy: The strategy here is to attack places on the map that your Juggs/Ships can hit easily. It's why it works well on real water maps.  On maps like HSC, you can get into trouble if your opponent is in a place you can't reach with your ships.

Think of this almost like a pstop but on a water map. As always, you will have to adapt -- as no cookbook strategy can win all, but this will give you a nice head start if you are not good at water maps.

Strategy & Replays / Re: War2 keyboard/hardware tricks!
« on: March 26, 2023, 11:30:40 PM »

This is an old thread - but I figured I'd add to it.

I like to Hotkey my town halls: I use 9 and 0 since they are right next to the "P" hotkey.
Note: Sometimes I'll use 8, 9, 0 for 3 halls.

For barracks - sometimes I'll do this and sometimes not - depends on the situation: Hotkey for ogres, normally (whatever you're comfortable with) 5,6,7,8 or whatever).

I tried it out; I like it. Everything looked big when I'd come from other games and back to war 2 (resolution zoomed in etc..). I like the wide-screen look—great job, guys/gals.

5
I wouldn't even touch the orcs - just give Humans a minor boost to those two units (which has been obvious for decades).

6
Make three minor changes to Humans - anything drastic, and the player base will split.

Don't have to reinvent the wheel:

1.) Mages start out with slow.
2.) Paladins heal is a little more effective -- in some way shape or form (at least make it worth upgrading to).
3.) Fix Ballista's - I believe there's a small delay in one of the animations.

I just started playing again after a 5+ year break.
I come and go (take long breaks - but I've played since the Kali days).

I started watching u8t3io3p's youtube channel - not yet knowing he was a top player now.

His style of play -- and overall, his positive attitude has inspired me to play again. Good stuff.

I'm a little late to this, I haven't played Warcraft 2 in a few years -- even so, it's like I'll show up for a week, get my ass handed to me fro a week or two and move on to other games.

As to Josh (AKA AcidGangsta):
He was a childhood friend that grew up on my street (In recent years, we'd really not hung out in awhile).

In our Kali days, I was the better player.   He was my student so to speak. When battlenet came around, that changed.  He played a lot more than I did, but he was also faster and just could naturally adjust to most situations.

There was a time period where he was one of the best players on battlenet -- he achieved something I always wanted to achieve but never did.  I remember being at his house, as he took on KHB for the KOTH title (back then, the KOTH series was like a championship title for the games two best players -- players could also pick their settings; I wish it could be brought back).

In the latter years, I think AcidGangsta lost all motivation to play war2.  Any time I'd hit him up, he'd join games, instantly quit etc..; then we'd go play starcraft 2.

The last time I played Starcraft 2, it was me Acid and Adam.

I didn't want to spend too much time talking about the actual even, because it really is tragic.  I'll just say this:  Josh suffered from PTSD -- I'm not sure how bad it was, but I do know it caused him to retire from the military.  The incident spurned from a "fight gone wrong".  If you know Josh like I do, it's likely the guy showed up in his yard with the gun and it didn't even phase him.

It's just a reminder to all of us that life is short.  We take a lot of things for granted.  Each day is a blessing (as cliché as this all sounds).

I'll see you all on battlenet.  Then I'll likely vanish for another few years :D
I wish you all the best^^
