i get stuck at "checking versions" every time.. and then it just sits there at that screen.

The same trouble with memory leak happened, need to find and fix that leak...
Just restarted the server, should work now.

That leak in not is pvpgn engine itself. It's in the php part attached to the server.
Also pvpgn code is not the original pvpgn, but looks like it's closer to this fork than to harpywar's one...
