iL why the hell do you have admin if you're not doing jack shit with bots? youre like TK who was deleting my posts but wouldnt move two spam threads to proper section. Why have powers if youre afraid to use them? give them to people willing to do the job...

This ---^

there is no harm in taking a few extra hours or even days to evaluate situations before we act... that applies to pretty much every situation.

so claw has to look at a post that's probably a bot for a day or two. oh frigging well.

better safe than sorry.

sorry that we lost a person who makes a spammish account, then creates a spammish thread with spammish content in the wrong board?

you guys are retarded and this is a definite spam. Youre both incapable of taking any action towards it and you call your incompetence "cautiousness"? haha dumb faglers. I wish you get policemen and firemen as cautious as you guys are <3

It is a bot yes.  What it's purposes is,  to verify that it can post.  It will come back at a later date and spam the shit out of the forums.

yes, and this is sad.
Bot with no links to external sites. Almost useless for his owner, almost harmless for us, just boring.
Bypassed the captcha...
Quite new type of bots, they leaved links mostly before...

The ones that bypass the captcha are almost always "paid" russians/chinese people that do nothing other than enter captchas all day long (other 3rd world countries do this as well, but primarly these are the biggest 2 culprits).  They make like $3US-$4US/hour doing this crap,  its hardly worth it to someone in the US and many other places but its something you can make your kids do when they are home I guess.  It's a partially automated process for them.  Everything is automated, all they do is enter the captcha all day long.  They are given a screen that shows them captcha after captcha,  they never even see the forum thats being signed up for.  It's a big business for blackhat SEO companies.  It affects forums mostly, but can also affect CMS's such as wordpress, joomla, drupal, etc because they too allow posts that can contain links which in turn has SEO ramifications.  Google has tried to put a stop to this type of stuff, but it hasnt really been able to make it pointless yet so there is still a market for this type of garbage.  The best way to combat this sort of thing is to ask a logical question such as "What unit does a Town Hall make".  They will never know this, but every one of us would know it.

They are using xrumer, it can solve any captcha.

Not likely.  This is more likely:  http://www.zdnet.com/article/inside-indias-captcha-solving-economy/ (http://www.zdnet.com/article/inside-indias-captcha-solving-economy/)  It's the same exact idea,  it just uses different technologies.  The bottom line is that using logical questions will solve this problem for both methods ;)  no one is going to waste the time to look up an answer to our game and it's generic enough where google results for it wouldnt provide the correct answer unless they put the name of the game (which isnt in the question).

A question would be a simple solution, although it has to be something even complete newbies who have never played the game would know.

Yes, that way is pretty effective to stop spammers, but i'd prefer to make it as last resort only. That could be really not so trivial for some of the forum newcomers...
Of course we will do it if no other methods help
