ELO friends!
New Twisted Meadows map version is coming out. I'm still doing some beta testing to make sure there are no bugs.
I was thinking of having a tournament this weekend but since we need to give the new version some time I will aim for a tournament on the 17 of Sep.
Any help with hosting the tournament is appreciated. So far Noise said he will help me, maybe Tora too?
What would be the best format? 1v1 or 2v2?
I'm doing this because i think it will be a lot of fun for all players, everyone will be a newb on this map ;D
We need all players to come sign up and play! 8)
I made a preview of the new maps main features, to help players pick it up faster.
I'm attaching the 2.0 beta version to this post and will update with final version when maps tested more. There will also be an observer version for 2v2 where slot 1,2,5,6 are for the playing players, fixed order is a must (which will not ruin game play because it's 2s map).
Video of map:

youre using rocks and farms to block shores (space between the sea and whatever) to make it unpassable, but you could just use war2XED or similiar and make the tree touch sea directly

Yes, but then you can chop through. And I do it like this to make it more clear where special features on the map are. Wouldn't look that good to have no shore either :X

chop through?... well you can still chop through, just next to the stone/farm? i dont get your point.
you can make it 2-3-4 wood wide and keep the rest as shore

So what's the benefit?

not having random misleading tiles build-able (shores) and/or pointless runestones. everything is plain and simple

The downside would be: it doesn't look good with clipped in trees. It will not be that clear where these special trees are.

Okay Sept 17th should be fine. Ill put a bot in the channel come Sept 11th and we can work from there.

It looks ugly and dumb

runestone is also fine, it's not that bad to have weird artefacts and temples and stuff on the terrain in maps. the only thing is the "you can build on regular dirt but not dark dirt" is potentially dishonest because if that's the "rule" then you could still wall in that bottom exp...

You can't build on shorelines. People playing seem to understand the basics very fast. You see where you can place buildings and not.
-
wait i thought the whole point of being allowed to build on light dirt was to allow building on shorelines

clearly it makes more sense than tree, water and ground, you fucking retards

i would just use a runestone in places where you want it to be sealable. and otherwise leave dirt normal - unbuildable
i guess the ruleset of this is
dark dirt: no
light dirt: yes
but coastal light dirt: no
but coastal light dirt next to rock: yes
but the reason for this is just to make the natural exps wallable and above town wallable. and you could accomplish that just by inserting a runestone in each space, and then you dont need to have odd rules
also balancing issue: the "secret" exp should have less gold since it's ez, the center mine should have more

yes thats super clear and intuitive.

This is my logic:
There is three new rules,
1. You can build on light dirt
2. Special choke possibility close to "dark rock".
3. Rune stone can't walk around.
Everything else like normal...

In version 1 of the map there were no mine in the middle, and the hidden exp was lower on gold. But after som months of testing and developing i came up to these amounts in gold mines. I will try it out for version 2.0. There is reasons why. The hidden exp takes time to take and is a big risk, that's why it needs to be little bit bigger. The middle mine is for late game mostly in 2s games, where all mines get mined out, so there is something to fight for. That extra 30k will be enough in late game, i also want come backs possible, if middle mine too big the guys with map control could camp it out...

dark dirt: no
light dirt: yes
but coastal light dirt: no
but coastal light dirt next to rock: yes
fixed this. it was more complicated than i first figured

Hum, i'm thinking about changing dates for the tournament to a Saturday instead... I will make a new post just about the tourney soon. But what you guys think about the 16th instead? It's easier for us EU players that got to go to work Monday morning...

I was planning to host a Tier 3 gow tournament the day before the twisted meadows.
You wanna host twisted meadows on the 16th or 17th?
-
Gow -16th, twisted -17th. Due to gow being more popular u should make it on saturday.
