Sure, it's possible, i just don't remember the file to replace. I'd begin from \art\Unit\Portrait\portrait.grp

before i go asking permision, I need know something, if you modify it just for one client mpq (like personal use), will it cause game mismatches when playing others using the unmodified MPQ w standard portraits??

Nope it should not desync. Get permission and maybe some more stuff too. Grab the images ando send them to me.

I'd need to know if iL would consider replacing portaits and add them to a new war2combat version as the standard unit portaits first.
Because, if we take those portaits and change the mpq
and the only person seeing those portraits will be me, and maybe you, then i don't believe it's that necessary asking permision, cuz we wouldn't be distributing them, would be just for our own personal view.... (its like if you saw a cool artsy wallpaper and asked the author for permission to put it as your desktop wallpaper )
My guess is you can start do the changes and when we are ready to add it to war2combat new version, i can go ask permision.

That could be interesting part of war2 customizing to change portraits, tilesets, units, images, etc.
Maybe to make a separate section "customizing" into combat installer? It's definitely possible technically, the question is if that will be demanded by community...

Im guessing the blue unit is the Ogre Hero Dentarg. I can't tell if all of them are heroes or if some are regular units too. I'm guessing the bottom right is Khadgar where as the 3rd human unit is a regular mage, and the bottom right for orc I can't tell if thats meant to be a skeleton, or Teron Gorefiend or maybe even a peon lol (Since all the other orcs look like warriors)

This is the modified section for war2. Alot of people care and would like to see more changes in the game we played for 10 years or more. But this project is way to small to even try to do it. Smurf pm me if you want a step by step instruction to do this your self. I don't mind assistance for anyone trying to make something for war2. Just message me and I will help anyone with anything.
Edit: because of things like Smurf king mention above lead me to find things in war2 I bet you never knew existed. I found tons of icons that where left behind example: horse upgrades, different spells, tons of cool shit... Yeah dumb idea guys LOL

tupac, that would be cool to see "forgotten" upgrade and unit icons.
Sure if people want to mod their own clients so their units have different icons (lol) whatever, but dont ask iL to mod icons for everyone. If we wanted our units to look different, we'd play Warcraft III

I didn't ask IL that man is busy enough. I stated on my first post I would do it if he had permission on them pics I asked for more icons and things or it pointless for me to do it. But yeah I have some secret projects that would blow all of your minds. ;)

if its a matter of MPQ edit, you should do that so users can choose/switch between them :P why would you need permission for that? i'd use that, so here - you'll have at least one faithful tester

It's the pictures we wanted permission for. Just not enough icons for me to do the work.

would be possible to make alot of different custom builds. youd have to do a button press effect of the icons also.

yeah that could be good for other languages. but take some one like tupac or anyone more advance than i am maybe they can get into custom spells but that would be a entirely dif game.
one thing that be cool to me is bigger maps for sea but i dont think its possble? anyone ever tried?
could always go to war3 for warII3d

I made maps that are 512x512 it's still beta....
You are going to need a lot more things then just edit mpq... for new spells. Etc....
