Holy shit there is a blast from the past. We used to have some good games man it's good to see you're still around. I log in once every few years to relive some old memories. There are still a few players from back in the day around. Community seems pretty split these days. Half seem to be people who have spent the last 20 years playing 8-12 hours a day. As you can imagine anyone who can devote that much time to a game for so long has some underlying health issues, so the community tends to be pretty toxic. Other half seems to be somewhat normal people who log in here and there as time permits. These people still tend to talk a lot of shit but don't seem to be as fucked up in the head. Its good to see you though and hear you're doing so well. Hit me up some time if you wanna catch a game or two.

I fixed the collision systems and the gold mine distance problem. Just left is to input the unit data. This is what war2 looks like with modern graphics.

So yesterday I decided i wasn't at all happy with the layout of my map, so i dug deep and revamped the entire layout to make it exactly like gow. Now it is very nearly a perfect 1 to 1 copy of the map gow. Still a bit of fine tuning to do with the layout of the roads etc. So yeah instead of imputing the unit data like I was planning on doing, I ended up spending the last 20 hours on the layout. Of course in the process I ended up breaking a bunch of my systems, so they will need to be revamped. The collisions are a mess. None of the unit data is done, The halls can be build right next to a gold mine, and a bunch of other stuff.

With all that said, here is a sneak pre-alpha peak at warcraft 2.5 in all it's glory. Enjoy. You can make flyers and look around at least :)

Heads up- You must manually select the human race to play this map, otherwise no units will spawn for you.

Thanks. It's designed for warcraft 3 reforged but it should work alright on war3 classic it just won't look as good. It won't play as a stand alone project. I dont have an artistic bone in my body lol. Most of the models will be built in. The custom models someone is doing/already did them for me.

Hasn't been tested yet with old graphics.

Once the map is finished I'm going to hold an open tourney for all players for $500 to promote the mod. In the mean time the human race is almost done and i want to test it out. How many people would be interested in a $50 tourney exclusive to war2 players and have war3?

It's funny cause I've been testing out my war2 mod on war3 custom games as I go and implement new features and the players there pick it up crazy fast. On time I was 9 and the noob was 11 and I ot'ed him and he defended pretty good. I managed to finish his base off and kill him and thought the game was over, next thing I know he has towered the bottom of 9 and is killing my base. I was not expecting it and luckily had just enough res left over to expand to 11 and lost my base at 9. This was the guys first experience at war2 and he had no idea what he was doing. Pretty much every game I've had the opponent put up a good fight for a noob

If you want more players you should should maybe target your recruitment a little better. Also the idea of making fog of war transparent so you can see the terrain beneath it is not a bad one if you can manage it. It won't help players who know the map, but it will make it way easier for new players to pick it up.

Yeah I'm way past that point already. I've got working choke points and square unit selectors and wall ins and neighbour wars and everything else war2 like. Single queue unit training system and an advanced construction menu that are revolutionary and often attempted but never successful until now. At this point I've just got to set up a system for upgrading knight/ogres to Paladins/ogremages and the rest is just 20-30 hours of plugging in unit data into systems already built. I'm about 200 hours into my making of this mod and the end is in sight. So far it's coming along really well. I even have original custom graphics based off war2 models for things like stables and mage towers and churches. Some time next weekend I'll upload a human race beta test and you can see for yourself.

10 / War2.5 Warcraft 3 reforged mod.
« on: February 25, 2020, 06:05:40 PM »
So with warcraft 3 reforged out i was thinking of making a new mod for it. I made one back in the day and had a lot of fun doing it. I have experience doing war3 mods, skyrim mods, dragon age mods, and a few others. My skyrim mods were actually pretty popular and got around 50k downloads over the years.

Anyway i thought it might be fun to collaborate with another old war2 player or two on this mod. My goal is to make war3 more war2 like. Not a total conversion, just a GoW style map with very war2 like gameplay on the war3 engine. Not looking to make a perfect port, more like an updated warcraft 2. The kind of sequel i would have liked to see in the first place.

If anyone has any interest in working together with this and has experience modding games gimme a shout. If anyone has some suggestions post them here.

Edit - Been working  on this all night. Starting out with 9-11 wars map and going to go all in to a gow style map. I have gotten to the point where you can wall in, rax and mill someone, and do some tower wars.

If anyone wants to help what i could really use is a spread sheet with all the unit, building, and upgrade costs and times. Another spread sheet will all the base dmg and upgraded dmg on all the units including towers.

This thread has me in stitches. I made an account just to reply. What ever came of this? Was Jordan outed as Blid?

Little bit of history behind the name Blid. Blid was a legendary war2 player from back in say 98ish. Pretty cool guy. We got along pretty well. Had some good games. He disappeared off the face of the earth some time in 99 thereabout. Quit before the days. Never heard from again.

Little of history behind Jordan. Jordan was a second rate scrub. BNE came around and he thought he was good. I beat him a few times in a row and he became borderline obsessed with me. Couldn't handle the fact that a fellow scrub that didn't go by the name Valkyrie beat him.

Some time a few years back I decided to google the name $hazm and found this place. There were what, half a dozen, a dozen comments made by this person claiming to be blid making jabs at me, 8 years after the last time I played a game and damn near 20 years since the last time I saw him. LOL. That's some unhealthy obsession right there. Not sure where that obsession came from but whoever this guy claiming to be Blid is, it is NOT the blid I knew from heat.

Only other person I can think of who might have known Blid back in the day who might possibly still be around is Chayliss. I cant remember for sure I think chay might have come after blid and only knows him through reputation?

Anyway thanks for the laugh Xurnt.
