others not changed 800/100 - default value, lol

Available, did you somehow get around the use map settings fixed
No, I think exe modification is needed here.

I personally prefer real fonts w/o additional processing, but some people (Vity, Ragner, etc...) will happy to use this option.

Still need some option to restrict switching to fullscreen and back,
to block accidental mode switching when someone prefer to play all the time windowed OR all the time fullscreen.
something like:
"AllowModeSwitching=Yes/No" or "IgnoreAltEnter=Yes/No"

Also another issue:

Idk, maybe allowing Alt+BackSpace feature in fullscreen can be better for some "switching"?


Anyway Switching by Alt+Enter works fine for all versions.

As for me, nothing to do with Alt+Tab:
I start war2 in windowed mode,
make some preparations with replays, if necessary,
join the game, then press Alt+Enter and just play without switchings.

For those who hates windowed mode,
probably better solution is pure "test2" version:
ftp://ftp.war2.ru/war2/ddraw4/ddraw.dll

There no window mode at all, but have one good thing:
it is "transparent" for system text antialiasing - as a result text can be smooth in BNE chat.

I asked iL for more options, but he against older, but still useful versions of ddraw for some reason.

Hmm... strange.

Tried again, looks like win7 just  set war2 to "last position" in Alt_Tab order... damned win7 "don't like" war2 window  :-\


But in that case only thing i need to restore war2, is press Tab so many times how much apps opened for return to fullscreen war2


but nothing like this:
"...you are unable to go back unless you click around blindly..."

tried new version

Ha-ha, now i'm stuck @ war2,
alt-tab effect: just blackscreen then returning to war2 :D

when switches finally (by 'windows' key) war2 same last in tab order

new problem:
that maybe switchnig too fast

and web browser set his size to 640 - not so funny.

A problem I noticed with the "GDI"
I just tested that on win7 (different comps 1920x1080, 1680x1050, 1366,768 displays)
none of them had problems with GDI + Fullscreen mode.

"war2_ddraw.ini" file:
[ddraw]
Windowed=No
MaintainAspectRatio=Yes
AlwaysOnTop=No
ShowWindowFrame=Yes
Width=640
Height=480
PosX=0
PosY=0


Are you tried Alt+Enter to switch modes to fullscreen and back?

When you press Alt+Enter then exit war2 'war2_ddraw.ini' settings rewrites to last mode that you used,
so parameter "Windowed=" must switch "No" and "Yes" corresponding when you exiting from fullscreen or windowed mode.

Maybe you are using some strange hardware/software combo, that *king up fullscreen, stealing window focus or so on,
then let we know please, to try same type hardware at least.


ps: I hope that hardware/software combo not a imac+win7 :]

What a storm in a teacup.

I thought almost same ("what a *hack") until i tested it.

In the form as it is implemented for now, they do not give a big advantage, but much more newbie-friendly:
it works with a decent delay,
an experienced player will still make things faster.

I'm agree with Cel, good thing is to know who use mod.



What is really impermissible is to add HP-bars.

Also note this is a 48kHz version, most fit for modern audiocards.

But anyone can do 44(if really need) with own old CD version + some work to split tracks 2 and 10 for BNE compatibility.

Some thoughts about Timer plugin.

What about to get rid of 'seconds' and use game Ticks instead?

Of course keeping screen updates same every real second or so on, but display value='game Ticks', not time seconds.
That have much more sense:

1. Then we can straight and clearly compare 'timings' on different speeds - must be same for game Ticks, not depending on useless 'real time seconds'.

2. That may solve "on pause mode" problem, that must not be counted on game timer.


ps: whoever need to check 'real seconds' for some reason, can use warvideo already.
or just set up real timer nearby :)

No, that works on standard good GDI visualiser from fois, which installed by default.

Almost all the screen refreshing ok, except some edges,
so i prefer to use that yellow mod with normal GDI ddraw.
