Question - when you go fort and get the extra gold, is that a bonus or does it draw that from the mine?

Assuming it has to be a bonus if you mined more than whats available on the map right?

Have you ever looked at the amount left in a goldmine to find that the last two digits were anything other than 00? (Good clan btw)

Yes it does say that. And I created maps just to get gold, wood, oil and food 404/200 way back in 1999 :) Exactly what my profile pic says...lol

Edit: I don't know how much more food over 404 can be achieved but it was my first try and that was good enough for me :)

u could actually slow his fastest down to ef playback speeds to see what the time amounts to.

if he does a  bne/ef....
im gonna say he should be faster to the ratio of his fastest.

yeah using a f and ef time is 2 dif things.

It is harder to win at F than EF vs comps. This is a fact.

i think it might be harder on F than EF if you've never played F  ... but if you've played both speeds with any sort of regularity i think they're both equally hard or easy imo.

a lot of it is just location, build order, build location, and timing
Title: Re: Warcraft Book of World Records
Post by: Swift on January 24, 2016, 12:18:26 PM
TK, shut up about taking me off the world records or I'll go beat your shit times by several minutes vs 5/6 cpus on EF and F. <3

Also, I watched you try 5+ times vs 6 cpus on bne/f last night and you got crushed.

As for the F vs EF debate when it comes to playing computers, F is definitely harder and there's at least a couple reasons as to why this is so.

1) The CPU's actions are automatic, while human player's have to manually do each action as quick as they can. The faster the speed and the larger your base gets the less of it you can manage within a given amount of time, because everything is in motion -  and on Fastest battles are faster, wood chops faster, buildings finish faster, etc etc. So, in essence the faster the speed the more you're falling behind. Seeing as the speed difference doesn't effect computers, because their actions aren't delayed, you're inevitably falling more behind on F than you're on EF. You don't notice this to be true because you just assume you're losing on F because it's not your speed. So I encourage you to go ahead and play 7 CPU's at 1 or 2 speeds lower than EF and you should notice that the lower the speed gets the easier it gets.

2) CPU's don't have any real UC tactics, and humans do. We're able to exploit this advantage to a greater degree on EF, as it both far easier to UC on EF, there is more "time" to UC on EF, and there's many more practical UC maneuvers on EF than on F.

I'm sure there are other reasons why too. F is unarguably significantly harder. I'm top tier at both speeds, and playing 7 cpu's on BNE/EF is a cakewalk while 7 on BNE/F can be a challenge.

The committee has taken the following actions:
1. g3mini's gold mining record disqualified. He did not provide a response regarding exceeding the maximum number of gold mines able to be added through the built-in map editor.
2. F/EF has been split for the comp stomp time challenge records.
3. 1v5 comps was deemed 2ez and removed.

Great, now I have two records.

Also, Player.. you intentionally hosted old/ef and made him 6 for the gold record so he couldn't mine.

I tried it on BNE with fixed order vs blue and came up 130 gold short of your record.  :'(

Crushed your wood record though!

Your memory is truly shit. I don't mean offense by it, but its becomes very apparent by your horrible recollection with this instance as well as the one a few days ago. I only played once (check the game records), and it was the game you were 8 and I was 6. I out rushed 12, then they all hit me at 6 and it looked like I was in trouble but I survived and finished 5, at this point you said "you win" and I agreed and suggested we leave onto the next one, and you exited and I followed. There was no second game.

The one thing you're right about is that I did do very minor repping of one of the CPU'S in TWO of your games, and you were only aware of it because I told you in the moment that I had done it. It was meant to be in good fun, nonetheless you got mauled just as hard the other 3+ games where I didn't rep as you did the two where I did.

You 0-5 (We'll say 0-3), me 1-0.

Updated with swift's records.  To minimize redundancy, the committee has decided to keep only GOW BNE records for most gold and wood instead of splitting GOW Classic/BNE.
Title: Re: Warcraft Book of World Records
Post by: Swift on January 25, 2016, 02:50:30 PM
FYI: My gold record is max gold possible on GOW. You can verify this by adding up the sum of all the gold in the map and then multiplying it by 1.2. So I think I'm basically permanently #1 for that record since I'm the first? I would however like to see how long it will take someone to figure out how to do the same - hint you have to zero bag the cpu opponent while not mining any gold before fort. It took me 4-5 tries until I figured it out, and I made sure to cover up all my tracks and start Warvid late so nobody could steal my blueprint.

As for the wood, I am not going to sit there and take the time to make sure I have little to no double chops, so I am sure that record is easily beatable to anyone who wants to spend hours microing their choppers.

I don't know that anyone has ever noticed/pointed this out, but there are two different types of double chopping. One is where two peons chop the same piece of wood, and the peon who starts chopping second is wasting its time and wont receive any wood from that batch. The second type of double chop is when a peon takes in two "blocks" of wood instead of one, and in rare cases you have triple chops where they take three. By sticking to one peon you prevented the former from happening, but without microing to prevent the double/triple chops it wont effect your bottom line whatsoever.

So essentially, you chopped with 1 peon for no reason at all. But good job getting a new record. Like I said, the person who wants to sit around and micro each wood chop so that it only gets one block is going to get the max sooner or later.
Title: Re: Warcraft Book of World Records
Post by: Player on January 25, 2016, 09:28:25 PM
Rofl, please. By double chop I meant 1 peon taking more two rations of wood.  Also, no way I'd chop the map with 1 peon.
Title: Re: Warcraft Book of World Records

Nor spend the time making sure the peons weren't double chopping (taking 2 woods).
Title: Re: Warcraft Book of World Records

Yeah I think we all know 2 peons can try to chop the same piece of wood, and also 1 peon cutting at an angle will take 2 trees.

Never heard or seen of a peon taking 3 pieces. Must be a bug or glitch if it has ever happened

Yeah, maybe we add a time element to the gold mining if/when people figure out how to blank the comp without spending fort res.

You've never seen the triple chop at 12? There's a few select places.  I've never noticed if it actually takes 3 blocks, or just creates an additional 3rd block of chopped trees

Added you back in unless someone disputes being able to make that many gold mines in the orginal map editor. I don't have it installed to confirm.

not only is gemini's gold mined possible, it can be more than doubled.

edit: oh i may have to take that back.  it yells at you if you try to plaster the whole map in gold mines, says you cant put down more objects... will have to recalculate the possible maximum

Nice, thanks for confirming. The War2Combat Map Editor is way inferior and only allowed me like 400 gold mines.

that's the same map editor!  maybe you need to increase the size of the tileset and then it will let you put down more units?

i could beat g3mini's total by about 800,000 gold but it would take um a long time

yeah, but then you have to put in starting locations or it's not a valid map so that bumps out a couple
