So Triggers editor is finally released.

In its current state, it is too difficult for beginners and not entirely clear even for advanced guys.

Beta testing with u8 and others who were interested, would be not too difficult??  :thinking:

Why don't you wait, GRRR, till we finish well at least the 'advanced' description?

Mistral knows how to contain a large share of genius, while having an even greater share of indifference to his projects. As a result, the product cannot satisfy basic needs, namely: there is no ease of use; no normal structure; everything is done, I'm not afraid of this word, "shitty" and "through the ass", and what particularly complex triggers do - it will not become clear until Ragnarok.

Attempts to stop the release, or to reschedule the release, were unsuccessful.
This is extremely sad ... but the project could become really very powerful in its kind, and even the Best, among the programs for Warcraft2.

P.S. All of the above does not detract from Mistral's genius. Does not detract from the enormous value of his merits.
I'm just disappointed that he could at least try to make his Best Creation much more beautiful, crisp, clear.

Then if you're lucky he might forget how rude you are and help.

Getting a working format together for a stable release is amazing. Make your own effing GUI (or nah?).... or better still use the perfectly decent one he already made and make a few maps.

It's free gift of someone's hard work. It's a beta. Use it. Test it. Make helpful suggestions. Be grateful.

Updated to version 1.1
(changed download link in main post message)

added custom names to Values and Flags
custom names not saved in *.pud files, only in *.w2tr, cause need econom place in pud maps.
fixed default value in msgbox
fixed text in msgbox
GlobalVals number changed from 256 to 16
now GlobalVals not changes between game save/load

its working with war2mod v1.71 and higher (currently on backup server)

I tried doing a few basic triggers like setting player money and I saved them to a .pud. I then loaded triggers from the .pud and I can see that they were saved but when I play the level, the triggers aren't doing anything. Is there something else I could be missing?

if you play on server then u need to host game from War2Mod channel (red text TRIG will be added to game name)

if you want play on singleplayer you first need instal our War2 that have plugins support
then you join server 1 time and can leave
when you joined server plugin will download and will be in war2 folder (named war2mod.w2p) you then put it into plugins folder
then you make triggers folder in plugins foder
you can use triggers editor to save triggers not into PUD but just in file
name those file humanNN.w2tr or orcNN.w2tr or custom.w2tr
where NN is number of mission from campanign (from 01 to 14) (xhuman xorc for BDP campanigns from 01 to 12)
and custom is applied for all custom maps

Love the new version Mistral.
Would you be able to do a write up on the functions on the new version?
Most players haven’t a clue how Dessert Strike works would be great to list the latest commands and different features.
I think players can list what the cost is per unite and what the best strats are.

The thing where you command a peon to chop wood, make a lumber mill and you get the +125 wood after it's done building even though the peon never chopped anything.  Thought it was in there, all good if not.

this thing never was in triggers
this is old DOS version trick - it was fixed in war2 BNE by original blizzard

basically bug was like this - peon receiving PEON_HARVEST_WOOD flag when he was actually sended to chop
not even need to touch tree at all, u can even send peon to chop someting in fog of war on other side of map.
so basically this is flag that checked if needed to give res, but peon cannot enter into lumbermill with just it, he also need PEON_LOADED flag.
but there is no check if peon loaded when he is ALREADY INSIDE and this is happens exactly when he finished build lumbermill or TH.
so u basically can get +100 free wood when build TH or +125 when build lumbermill (or builded TH and already had mill)

and fun fact - it was working every single time.
so PRO players in DOS version on 1996-99 always sended peon to chop before building first TH or lumbermill or expand TH.

Thanks. Will download user created maps and play some. Been replaying the war2 campaign lately (still on tides of darkness then will finish dark portal before doing the user created campaign)

Are there more maps than the 5-6 examples you posted for single play?

Exactly what I needed! Thanks man. Been enjoying doing the campaign lately. MP is way too hectic for a 10 something year old rusty me.. lol

Hi Mistral, want to thank you for this great tool and have some suggestions. :thumbsup:

I think a random function would be very useful, Set Value = Rand function (ex, Random number between x and y) and also Amount = Rand (example Timer between 5 and 20 seconds).

Second suggestion, Starcraft maps can embed sound files (at ~30% of the original size), as the scm is just an MPQ container file, would it be possible to embed sounds into the trigger file?

triggers being stored is old unused OILM section which was used for oil distribution in old alpha war2
but size of this section is depends of map size so max amount of bytes that triggers can be is for 128x128 map = 16k bytes
so this is not possible to put custom sound files and etc u just not have any place for even 1 sound
it is possible to add more sections i think but then maps becomes uncompatible with original map editor and even puddraft too
if u open and save map in them then all other non supported sections being removed from map file

p.s. lol also imagine the lag when someone joins lobby and needs to download 50mb map with tons of cursed custom sounds :) :) :) :)

Yeah it migt be a problem :)) I didn't notice the trigger maps are embedded without separable files for online play, makes sense.

I was thinking of Sniper CTF or bomb plant/defusal with random groups of NPC units moving around the map to create danger for both teams, as well as runes so you must send spotters first, with each round you can buy fire throwing grunts, additional spotters(submersible peon), demo team etc, or air strike (temporary battleship or catapult with 128 range and turtle missiles), etc, the random factor makes each round different as much as is possible, random terrain would be cool but maybe a bit ambitious.

I think random can be implemented another way (Hp of unit under some effect) but it's slow, you lose player slots and I don't know how reliable that method will be generally.

By the way, it would be really nice to change the speed of "even faster" being the most popular selection.

For reference, fastest defaults to 13, even faster is 20. Something like 17 plays better, I think.

Starcraft 1 remastered works this way actually, Ed.

I've encountered some of these Korean maps, like Special forces with a lot of new remastered features and they're slow to download. Even consider you have to download them from Korea server so it would be even slower for foreign people.
So basically, starcraft maps can get really big as well to download. It may turn a curse and slow in lobby to get.

Problem is nobody joins fastest games, or thet just leave - the trigger works perfectly fine.

Speed at 18 is nice but not too fast, and really nice animations.

Yeah but once game starts nobody should change speed by accident or on purpose IMO, even the host. I hope in next version you could set both EF and F trigger (as EF is more popular by far).

I always hit minus key by accident because I place hall/command center on the 0 hotkey (also peon/probe/peasant is one key over), so it's now completely disabled when game window is active.

GOW with pathfix + rally + speedfix is really great introduction to triggers, but people don't want tower control and won't join fastest games.

Unrelated question: is there a known method to turn Zeppelin into a transport with triggers or otherwise? I guess if you morph a transport into a Zeppelin and then back after loading it might work :thinking:

turning transport into flying unit have better chances than making zeppelin cary units
in this game those 2 units (human transport and orc transport) have many super cursed logics very hardcoded into game code
so u cannot just simply change zeppelin cuz there will be many logic transport code not working for it

are yall working on improving the onboarding of new users???

HD was recently discribed as trash 1/10 would not reccomend
and only way i got them to give it a go was coz they couldnt figure out how to login to gog
also its almost daily i see ppl stream war2, some have original copoy still
none are aware of combat edition. most are doing campaign

i been messin around with an idea
but i cant even fool around trying it out in game
ive changed a units stats but they do not apply ingame
i havent tried to train them, but i take off 1 peon only and have units at the start
ive opened it in a couple of different editors and it shows what i changed just doesnt affect the units in game

a radical rework of knight/paladin!
anyone wanna amuse ourselves and try this out?
im pretty sure its a broken as fuck ideas lol. so knight has to stay the same or it will 100% be broken, and it will just be paladin.

i toyed around tryna bring axer/archer with a rush. they are just so shit. and ive seen enough air lately its like cant do nothing with range or it fucks air. maybe atk type armor tweaks where it brings em up vs melee but no vs air idk

oh, if anyone is into sc2 and maps, i have full war1/2 assets that i found.

been back 5 days, after gone 10+ years because my mouse was always shit ingame.
the HD fixed the mouse for me and i really enjoy the resolution upgrade!
