I just released a new version, check the first post for the download link. https://forum.war2.ru/index.php?topic=6461.0

Changelog:
Campaign movies are now centered to the screen
Does now work properly with the GOG version
Added a new 800x608 version for those that don't have a widescreen monitor
Improved error logging - Please upload the ".dmp" file from the error folder here in the forums in case the game should crash

62
Can people elaborate on it being an advantage for those who have a widescreen? I certainly don't plan on buying a monitor, I'm just playing on my laptop

It does work without widescreen monitor as well.
And since the most votes were for "Yes, all resolutions, even those above 960x544" we can also have a new resolution for those that don't have a widescreen monitor such as 800x600 for example.

And I'll make a new version for harry as well where he can see less, 320x240

63
I would do it the following way:

If the overwhelming majority (75% or more) wants the widescreen patch to be available on the main server then we'll allow it without any restrictions but we do what lesnik suggested and add the info on the status page so everyone can see who is using it.

If less than 75% want it then we do what harry suggested and allow the widescreen patch but we'll try to find a way to make sure that only those who are using the patch will be able to play together in the same room OR we allow the host to choose if the patch is allowed in the given game room or not.

If less than 50% want it then there will be no widescreen patch on multiplayer at all.

I think that's fair, otherwise I don't see why we would continue to have any polls here if the results always get ignored because someone who's in the minority is complaining (Which did happen here quite a few times already).
But that's just my opinion though, in the end iL will have the final word on this.

The poll is still running for 4 days, so please promote it in-game and tell everyone about it!

64
I dled it lanuched single player, when I wanted go back with normal screen multiplayer all getways disappear

Edit: fixed

The new features like OBS that mistral added are not working yet
i fixed

nice!

I just released a new version, check the first post for the download link. https://forum.war2.ru/index.php?topic=6461.0

Changelog:
Does now support playtesting multiplayer games but only on the backup server

The new features like OBS that mistral added are not working yet so you'll have to play without it. Hopefully someone will stream a bit, would love to watch a few games!

66
Ultimately it doesn't even matter because I have already uninstalled Warcraft 2.

I play Halo 5 .. waiting for infinite.

But changing how much vision a person has in their viewfinder will affect the game. And negatively affect people who do not have the same amount of vision in there viewfinder

I just played the first online game with iL and it's quite difficult to play like this... maybe it's not as good as you think. I tried the higher res version though, not the low one :D

67
I just released a new version with all the bugs fixed that were reported, check the first post for the download link. https://forum.war2.ru/index.php?topic=6461.0

Changelog:
The bottom in-game UI was fixed and is now visible on 960x544 too
GOG version should now be supported as well
All menus are now centered to the screen
Added a new config program to make it easier to configure your renderer settings

68
Maybe before we add it on normal server, lets make it on backup and test it?

Yeah that's a good idea, I can try to make it working on the backup server first

I can try to collaborate with Fois later and maybe add it into war2mod? then put it on to backup serv for tests.
dunno if will be possible though.

I should be able to get it done. You have to make your new features like OBS and everything working with it though!

cool stuff.

definitely not for multiplayer. not even the option. leave 640x480

I was also concerned about multiplayer hence why I made it for it for single player only at first. I tried out high resolutions like 1280x720 but I didn't like it, you can see way too much. 832x480 is not that much higher than the original so I thought at least this resolution would be fine for multiplayer.

danny tried out the 960x544 patch yesterday on his stream, anyone who's interested in how it plays with a higher resolution can check out his video here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1190669661

Warcraft II Widescreen / High resolution patch

Download and extract all files into your game folder (overwrite existing files).

To configure your resolution and other settings (e.g. windowed mode) use Warcraft II Config.exe.

Please report any bugs you find in here or on discord: https://discord.com/invite/b7gttyy

Download (Tested with GOG.com, new Battle.net (January 2024) version and War2Combat): https://www.moddb.com/downloads/warcraft-ii-widescreen

Live Streaming

For live streaming/recording with OBS the preferred way to capture the game is now "Game Capture". It's also possible to use "Display Capture" or "Window Capture" but to make those two options working you'll need to open "dd-hd.ini" in notepad and change the line "nonexclusive=false" to "nonexclusive=true".

Full tutorial for live streaming is here: https://forum.war2.ru/index.php/topic,6211.0.html

Lobby map plugin

Do you have a "Errors" folder inside of your game folder? If so, can you upload the files inside of it?

It's cool, but I don't like that you have to type commands :(

When you have to type commands it will be too complicated and many will not use it, just like it was some years ago with the host bots.

It would be nice if we can have observers working without commands, the drop down box should have the observer setting in it so you get "human, orc, random, observer"

Did that work out
It's not in good condition for now.
I can instant join/create some games, i can use some chat features and so on, but all this still too raw.
Too many things needs to be fixed/reworked, at least "guaranteed" info delivery by BNE chat.

Common problem depending on ddraw:
while at least one BNE window exist,
all war2 windows (including main) need to be same alpha=0 (transparent for mouse clicks)
BNE not exist - main return to normal/default War2Alpha

I will be appreciated for version like this

maybe good to have options in war2_ddraw.ini
War2Alpha=255 ;  ~ 16 to 255 ; default common transparency for war2
BNEAlpha=255; same for bne mode, 0 - invisible/non clickable ALL war2 windows while BNE exist
for testing/working period at least...

Do you have a test version so I can see what you are trying to do and get a better understanding of it? Maybe makes it easier then for me to think about a good solution

I tried to just double all the sizes/coords in the dialogs resources to get 1280x960, but War2 still switching to 640 when BNE appears then crashed.
What needs to be done so that war2 does not crash?

I don't remember how i done it but i had it working before (only in windowed mode though). I think you need to test it with cnc-ddraw, gdi ddraw has too many hardcoded "640x480" stuff.
I changed the text size and let it auto scale, that was easier to do

then i can make/finish a wrapper interface of any size (less / more than 640, depending on the user's current task: chatting / working with the tournament / etc) with the necessary functions, much more convenient than regular interface, faster than conventional drawing.

Did that work out @Available ? If not, then maybe we could create multiple battle.snp files (each one with a different resolution)
