This Saturday, tell everyone you can!

You should all play in the tournament coming up so that there are more games for more replays. Good idea.

You CAN register by letting me/Tora know on here, but you will need a partner to do so. Typically, about 50% of the people login on 30mins-1 hour before the tournament and ask around in the channel. If they aren't in the main channel, they are in the channel called tournament.

Lol Mistral. Welcome to the game, oh btw, let me go on a huge rant about GOW and all of the players on the server. Great impression, haha.

People do all sorts of strats. There is no single one per se. A lot of them have to do with the spot you start in, map type, and/or with just what you would like to do. The most popular and useful strats are towering your opponent very early in the game, grunt rush, and/or close your base and get lust asap and defend until then. Play orcs, not humans. 98% of the people play orcs because bloodlust is very powerful, and humans do not have it.

The server is pretty competitive. I would advise asking a couple of people to help you learn so that you are able to get semi up to speed with some others otherwise, players will basically be playing a handicap match, which is difficult for everyone. Feel free to message me when you see me on to do so.

Again, don't play humans. :)

DDecimeter (or whatever his name is) said he's had his name since like the late 90s. He said DD was not a clan. It was just a name. The other DDs made those names and said it was a clan. He also said, hiding peons n stuff was not something he ever did/does, nor was there a motto.

Does anyone have contact with the following people:

-Vizzer
-Serist
-Bara
-Ash
-Braviet
-00Steve
-Pb (I think myst does)
-Tyrus
-Green Agenda
-Slick
-BHC-Master (idk if hes someone else)

Just trying to find some people that may be interested and also would be good competition. If you do have contact, or know someone who does, could you please let them know directly or let me know who knows them. And then, let me know (and what their interest is), so I'm not trying other paths when they are not needed. Thanks.

Naw, losers stay losers! (so nice) Maybe I'll wind up making a 2nd tourney for that if it's not possible otherwise. I'll figure it out. Like 5mins before the tourney probably. I'll have to play around with it.

Server.War2.ru / 2v2GOW TOURNAMENT AUGUST 5th- 11CST - $500 1st place
« on: July 12, 2023, 08:26:37 PM »
Hey everyone, it's been a while since the last tourney. (Duddaaaa!!!) So, Tora and I will be hosting a big 2s tournament.

Date/Time: Saturday, August 5th at 11:00AM CST/12:00 EST/6PM CET (feel free to dbl check me lol)

Type: Single Elimination with a loser bracket with a prize. (might use duda's preliminary round robin type idea too)- TBD- Depends on the turnout

Prizes:

1st- $500
2nd- $250
3rd- $150
Loser bracket 1st place- $100

Rounds will depend on the number of players participating. Ideally, I would like to start off with BO3, and then move it to maybe BO5 for Semis and then B05 or B07 for finals. Yes, that will make it longer, but I do feel like people tend to say, "oh that's it?" towards the late rounds and by that time, everyone is watching.

I'm setting this date so far in the future so that people can plan, and we can have a better turnout. I think the last tournament I did, even Braviet came back but how long did it take until he heard about it? It also gives time for people to "unrust".

Knitter- Maybe you can get Jesk back on. You guys won the 2s tournament a few years ago.

Shotgun- See if you can contact KHB. KHB could possibly contact Ash too.

EQ- You can come back and play and/or do your twitch commentary everyone loved.

Swift- (idk if he even goes on here) maybe you can get Joe back or Steve.

U8- All of Poland

Please tell any and all players you have contact with, currently playing or not. Word of mouth is really valuable, and I will do my spam stuff in the channel of course. I don't know/have the FB page but if someone can comment on there or any other social media, it would be greatly appreciated. The goal is to have as many players/top tier players as possible, so everyone isn't just assuming who is in the finals and waiting for that.

Any feedback or questions are encouraged.

Duda, thanks for hosting this tournament. There were a lot of people (which is great, nj), so it was a lot of work for you since there were technically 32 teams. You handled it very well and it seemed to have gone pretty flawlessly. Brackets were up fast, you responded to people was fast, your reiteration of rules when needed, and posting who is vs who to get people going.

That's a good amount of effort for someone doing this on his own time for the sake of the people/community. I've hosted some before and yes, it can involve a lot of effort. Easier to play than host.

So, thank you for doing what you do. You're a good guy with a good temperament who always seems to be in good spirits and have fun. If this is indeed your last one of the year; thank you for your contributions and I look forward to playing some games with ya.

Also, money bags Tora, I think you spoil us with your generous contributions. You are almost like the silent business partner sometimes. Nobody else is shelling out any money and you do this many times throughout the year. I hope anyone who gets a single cent is thanking you. Even those who don't should thank you for the opportunity and/or bringing the competition/number of competitors to the tournaments. I am for axing u8s winnings though. :) Nothing personal but he wins every one, lol. Maybe handicap him. :)
