Backstabbing not against the rules? Loophole?
« on: April 24, 2015, 01:09:41 PM »
This seems to me to be a missing rule, like how linking to hacks isnt against the rules.

Backstabbing is a particularly heinous crime in pball, where your units are all 1/1, and you have some douchebag on your team who waits until the 2min mark then rushes to give you a loss, and youre dead before you can even find the unally button.

This happened to me yesterday, but thanks to fast acting by xXxSmeagolxXx we coordinated a successful rescue, got it on War2Video, and asked the admins for the AKA and IP of the BSer, but was denied because "no rule was broken"

Bullshit if you ask me. Anyone here want to defend backstabbing?

This guys AKA and IP should be exposed for all to humiliate him for his unsuccessful backstab, and ban him from games

Don't think it's a loophope, I don't even think DISCING is against the rules. Just against the general server 'nice guy' etiquette.
Personally I think youre overreacting. Yes, pball games are easiest to bs on, but its for a reason - they are generally hyper dynamic and all end within 2-3 minutes. Not much time is lost here...

It's also allowed to stay after the game is "over" on chop farms (with farms behind the woods), which may cost everyone a lot of time to sapp the way to them/get air... especially if the game ended early. so the "loss" here is even bigger...
It's allowed to ruin games as a watcher, which can also be very impactful and the general time loss would also be bigger here.

If we're talking stats and you don't want to take the 'unfair' loss here, I think it's only fair that we forbid 'unfair' wins as well - wins coming from watching, wins coming from AVing when the player lost...

To conclude, I don't think 'stats' argument is enough to make this any reasonable at all, and if we were to change it because of the "net time loss of all the players in game", a lot more rules should be added to maintain coherency.

Personally, yes, I am defending backstabbers and don't think anything should be changed regarding that matter. You just, errr, ban the dude next time.

Haha valid points claw, and theres really not much loss involved like you said : a 2 min game and another loss for my already shit stats card, who cares i guess. Just hope it doesnt become a real problem like it used to be on battle.net: 60men is one of the only "unhackable" maps, so to get back at us people would constantly try to sneak in to our games and BS

Adding a rule could complicate things i guess, i would personally just like to be awarded his AKAs and IP however for my own banning and to make fun of him

Definitely don't see the need to expose someone's IP or aka just because they killed you in a game.  Backstabs suck, but they can be done without hacking the game, so they're part of the game.

What if everyone started backstabbing.

Then it would be a non stop free for all.

Just stop playing them. Simple. The more people stop playing them, the less likely they will repeat that.
This is the reason I ended it all.

The newb, the mad and the retired.

Hackers and backstabbers should be treated equally with exposed IPs, AKAs, bans and should be made fun of by the community

And blid shouldnt have any vote on anything, he shouldnt even be an admin, but he should at least have to recuse himself from any issues involving pball because of his own admitted prejudice which creates a conflict of interest in all judicial matters

5- ban all pball players
