Heheh okay I got it working now, thanks. I didn't need the program though, I just needed to extract the .sms file and keep it there without putting it back in x'D Seems it does overwrite the one inside the archive.

32
tupac, there is an unexpected problem. I try to update the mission 12 folder, but winrar says, I can only make updates to the .rar and .zip archives. The campaign archives do look like rar, but they have .gz extension.

33
@tupac, don't worry, I've found out how to edit the unit stats in an another ini file. Though it affects all the maps globally, not just one map. But it's fine by me for now. Thanks for telling me about that create unit command, it really will help a lot.

Here it is: http://pastebin.com/LjRiQeUL

This is the map for beyond the dark portal human last mission. I didn't find it too easy to be read. I want to place some units or change their places/remove them without messing with the campaign triggers. I hope I can do it.

I've found out about wargus and downloaded it a month or so ago, and I was immediately captivated by it's features. And it looked more moddable than how bne currently is too. You remember my first topic here in this forum? I've asked about changing the stats of some units globally, meaning that it would affect all the maps, including campaigns. This is literally something you can do by tweaking the ini file of wargus. That was literally what I had wanted bne had. It's amazing.
But unfortunately this is not everything I needed. I want to be able to edit the campaign maps too. Now, again I can open .sms files in the campaign folder using notepad, and I assume that it represents the physical appearance of a map, but then again, it looks something like this on notepad:

Soo, yeahh. It's almost like the machine language for a warcraft map editor lol. I could maybe somehow try to decipher it by myself, but then again... It's just way too intimidating and hard to do, plus there really isn't a guarantee that I could succeed if I tried to understand it, neither.
So what I'm asking is, is there a way to open campaign maps and change them, using an editor, and put them back to wargus campaign without messing up the triggers when it comes to Wargus/stratagus? I know that this is something we couldn't do in vanilla warcraft.
Btw, I tried copying & pasting the .smp/.sms campaign files to the custom game folder. And while I can play them just like the normal campaign with triggers, I cannot open them in wargus' built-in map editor. At first, it gives the mission briefing, as if I'm playing the mission lol. And then it just freezes when mission briefing is done. So I dunno how I could do this. Do you have an idea how to accomplish what I wanted to do?

Well that sucks, I don't think I'll ever be able to resolve my issue then, at least not unless if someone here could help me.

Yeah, I know about wyrsum. Bought it, it didn't click with me though. Btw, what is that wargus/stratagus forum?

Sorry for long delay and sorry for flooding. Here is the new version of the human BtDP campaign. Goldmine in mission 2 is relocated to a place tiny bit souther, and added 5000~ gold (if I recall correctly). Green in mission 3 is nerfed. If I'm not wrong, they shouldn't be sending in ogres, atleast?

On top of that, added 3 more missions. All of which retain the same mission objective as the original did.
(Mission 4: erect a castle to protect the portal, destroy all enemy forces
Mission 5: Build three shipyards, destroy all orcish shipyards
Mission 6: Turalyon and Danath must return to the Circle of Power after destroying Bleeding Hollow (orange) )

Go, give them hell.

Note: I will also update the original post by posting the updated version.

Honestly I'm impressed that you were able to finish those two hard missions. And even with very little losses too. Because, even though I created them, I was unable to win the scenarios that I created myself, except for the easier first one x'D That being said, while keeping them hard, I still tried my best to make them as realistically managable as possible, i.e not impossible to beat. But I was still not good enough to beat my own missions, but you were good enough to beat them it seems :P I kinda wish that there was a youtube video of you beating them, so I could also inspect the videos and take notes about how to beat them myself, lol.

Thank you for suggestions, I will implement them, and I will post the new updated maps along with the new hard missions when I post the new link.
Btw, about mission 3, which deathknights do you wish to be removed? There are three groups guarding the mainland. The ones guarding the western gold mine, the ones hidden south of orange base, and a small one hidden north of the orange base. Maybe you can take a screenshot of the one you wish to be removed?
About purple, I kinda don't want to change the original AI of purple in this mission, because if I remember correctly they were the ones sending dragons, and I want at least one base to be able to send dragons in this mission. But I can try to nerf green if you want? I hope it doesn't become too easy to defend though.

Btw, thanks for your suggestions and feedback. I feel encouraged to continue working on more mission again now.

General Discussion / Re: A Real Gamer.

That is what I would call unhygenic and stupid.
Internet cafes are the things that needs to die down, noticed how there is no such culture in most developed countries?

I'm sorry I know that this is not the right place, but I couldn't find a contact email or something with the stratagus or wargus developers :( And also I had thought because this is the best place to ask anything related to warcraft 2, so.
I'll describe my problem if there would be anyone willing to help.

General Discussion / Question about AI retreat mechanics
« on: June 01, 2016, 01:18:28 PM »
If you take a look at this guy's gameplay of campaign and watch it for just 2 minutes, you can see that he utilizes this to a great degree.

! No longer available

But my question is, how does it work? When and under which circumstances do enemy AI's units give up charging and then just retreat? What are the factors that causes that? How do we know when AI would do that? I would definitely love a detailed guide about this doing extensive explanations.

PS: Warcraft 2 is a game older than 20 years, and at first glance it seems like a very simplistic game. But I believe there is still a heck load of things waiting to be discovered about it.

I see, thanks for sharing that too. It's interesting. It seems to work for all of the maps and you have to mod the maindat.war in order for it to work, instead of working in just specific .puds and not requiring you to mod the maindat.war, which probably would be the preferable thing :(

Btw, do you know how to use the campaign builder in wardraft? Is there a tutorial for that too?

@tupac, yeah, but by messing with AI if you mean creating my own AI packages, I definitely have no idea how to do that :p I can just implement the preexisting AI packages in PUDDraft, like for example, putting the blue computer AI of I dunno, tides of darkness orc mission 11 into the AI of orange orc in beyond the dark portal human mission 1 or something like that. Yeah, I can do that, and I've already kinda did that in these beta missions and will continue to do so in further maps as well :P It's no big deal.

But, does the first human who touches the rescue passive unit gain the control, or do they gain control over them simultaneously? (both being able to control the same rescue unit?) Or just the first human player in players list being able to control the rescue units for example? What I'm wondering is how that does work.
